Trying to attach a eye piece to my cameras viewfinder so it frees up the hotshoe slot.
Don't want to leave marks or residue on camera for resale value.
The eye piece also gets knocked around a lot and is quite flexible so needs to be a firm hold.

I think easier than finding a magical no residue chemically neutral forever flexible glue compatible with whatever two random rubber compositions your parts are made of would be getting an extra hotshoe slot and attaching it to the top of your eyepiece mount, like mounting another rail on a rail-mounted component of a gun.

What a stupid design for an eyepiece. Doesn't the original eyepiece slide out? It does on my camera and there are slots there to hold it in, I'd work on a mechanical hold solution instead of searching for magic glue.

>getting an extra hotshoe slot and attaching it to the top of your eyepiece mount
the hotshoe has connection points for external flash, wouldn't really work for what i want

i already have a camera cage with an extra hotshoe mount but that's not what i want

>>2780979
no, the viewfinder eyepiece is firmly glued in and there are no real 3rd party replacements for it
the eyepiece im using is dodgy and meant for a different camera

since there's no magic glue, could you reasonably removed the residue with enough heat, time, and scraping?
i got some orange chemical cleaner shit thats designed to remove sticker residue, might work

Then just wait. The standard eyepiece is fine. The situations where you really need a hotshoe flash and the larger eyepiece are few and far between.

Bruh. You're not going to be using a 400mm+ lens and a hotshoe flash, the fuck. Also never had that problem, sucks to suck.

Through The Roof.

It's clear, doesn't fog up, and has a slight give when fully cured. It's my go to and better than silicone in adhesion. Clean the surfaces first with an alcohol wipe. Give it a full 24 hrs to cure. Any hardware store should have it, where the caulk is.

Don't use superglue/cyanoacrylate. Either it has inhibitors and won't hold (every consumer version I know of or have ever used), or it's commercial pro hobby stuff and will never ever let go if proper set-up and application is used. The whole bottle will self-cure within a month or less, rock hard. That's what the inhibitors are for.
