How do I make a water filter with stuff I can find in my local hardware store?
Would it be cheaper to just by the one in pic for 10 dollars?

Just make a distiller. It's always the best. Get a fresnel lens to heat up the water.

not worth making really

also--the faucet ones are pretty expensive overall

the ones that hook onto the faucet but that sit on the counter-top are a much better deal.

The basic under-sink filters are the cheapest overall, but be mindful of the cartridges. Some are cheap, some are ridiculously expensive and pretty much all of them are the same.

I'm running my icemaker off a $9.95 walmart inline filter and it works great, better than a $39.95 unit I bought at home depot.

Faucet nozzle filters are too small to be effective, and they're pricey.

On that note, does anyone have a filter cartridge they could/have dissect/ed? Depending on what they actually use, it could be a very simple DIY replacement
