Hello, anyone here knows how I can make a "Hammer" for a costume I need for school. I'm dressing up as Hephaestus/Vulcan, I just dont know how to make a good hammer

get normal hammer. Stick cardboard on it till it looks like the hammer of choice then spray it

I'd say get a block of green foam or even some slabs of pink foam (glue them together to desired "hammer" thickness), bondo, sanding, more bondo, sanding, etc till smooth.

Add in a crack or two if you want for REALISM (probably not though, but it is stylistic.

PVC pipe for the handle, or even a cylinder of wood. Shape it and paint it/stain it to desired effect.

Put it in the middle of the foam head, and there you go.

If you want to make it look even better, I'd say wrap the handle where your hand will grip in leather.

I'd probably make a casting of both pieces, but that's just me.

Alternatively, give me $50 via paypal and I'll do it (yourself). Haha.

Yeah, It seems that the best way to make this is to use some kind of foam and just cut it and sand it till you get the desired shape, I think I'll also use some paper mache coat, and for the handle I'll try to use some kind of wood. Thanks!

Go to a fitness store and purchase a yoga block. It has the proper density to look realistic when you paint it and its quite light so you won't get tired holding your fake Mjolnir.

I played Hephastus in HS, use a real damn hammer. Or, these days, Id prolly make one out sheet metal.
