Hey guys, need some advice. I live in a floor level apartment and I’m looking to cover it on top. Basically the rain water runs through these wooden decks down to mine which carries the water and dirt from their balconies down to me. Any suggestions where I could cover this to route the water to go out the front and away from my patio? I need to figure out a temporary solution that won’t damage anything since I’m renting. I’ve thought about stapling a tarp but I’m not sure how well that would work. Any suggestions?

it has to be dealt with from above. if you simply put something on the underside you'll be trapping water up there which will rot the boards and likely carry the water to the framing in your unit. best option since your renting is to get a table with an umbrella or a 10'x8' picnic canopy

Pretty simple, add strips of wood to the joist that start at say 2 inches, and keep going down until the final joist is zero height. Then get some of that wavy clear plastic material at home depot and screw that to your wood pieces. This will create a slope, and so when water goes through the boards it will slope away to the outside.

Repeat after me. No letting agent, that was always there. Why would I build a roof?!

That's polycarbonate and it's super expensive. Vinyl soffit would work just as good and cost a fraction of the price.

Use sheets of corrugated metal sloping away from the house draining into a gutter
