how to hang this shelf on my wall without nails?

hi, i live in rental house (meaning i can't drill holes in the walls) and i want to hang this shelf in the corner of a room. picrel is the shelf and the corner. only problem is i don't know what to hang it with. i can't use nails and i can't think if anything else strong enough to hold this shelf (weighs maybe 6 pounds). what should i do?

where do you live? If you're in the USA and your walls are made out of drywall the general rule is that you *can* put holes in the drywall as long as you spackle them over before you move out. Landlords always repaint the walls between tenants anyway, so as long as the holes are filled in with spackle, then they will be unnoticeable after a fresh coat of paint.

it's often specified in your lease so I'd double-check that. My last apartment's lease specified the exact dollar amount they would charge me per hole in the wall, unless the holes were spackled over before I moved out, in which case there would be no charge.

Anyway your best shot would be taking the stickers from picrel and using the stickers to glue your shelf to the wall. However I'm skeptical that the stickers can hold 6 pounds, and even if it holds, you probably wouldn't be able to put much (if any) weight on the shelf, which makes it kinda pointless.

Just get some drywall anchors and drill some holes and do it all properly OP. If you make it look good, you can move out with the shelf still nailed to the wall and the landlord probably won't charge you because it's an improvement. In my last rental house I planted a tree in the backyard and installed a mounting for a return air filter to the HVAC system. Landlord didn't charge me for either because they were obvious improvements to the property.

Landlords don't give a shit about nails. They care about the holes in the wall and damage to the paint. Even 3M strips will potentially damage the wall when you take them down (speaking from experience). If your that worried about it then you are SOL and should move somewhere where your landlord isn't a bitch or buy your own home OR give up on having the shelf on the wall until you can afford to move.
