Did a craft show recently, and sold off a bunch of steamer trunks I'd restored or repaired. Sold a few hand-made repros, too.

is it good money for the time you put into it? or is it more of a hobby

It's a side-gig. It's not lucrative now that the cost of my materials have just about doubled in the past two years. A sheet of lauan (for the bottoms of the tray inserts) has doubled. Half-inch white pine has almost tripled. The Amish harness maker whom I got my leather from passed away last year. It's tough. I enjoy it, though.

I’m remodeling a house I’m flipping. I thought it would just be paint, floors, etc but it has turned into a rewire, Sheetrock, texture, new cabinets etc. It’s in a predominantly white area so I think I’ll still do ok but they will basically be getting a brand new house.

Those look really good. Nice work. Makes me want to be a pirate and store my boomer rocks in it.

How are young people supposed to afford housing when all the Jewmers jack up the price of timber so they can charge more rent?

NMFP. I don’t flip houses to sell them to poors. Cash is king. Never forget that.

Poor urban communist redditors didn't want to live in or purchase fixer-uppers anyway.
They always complain that there's no housing available, but what they really want is a house with these qualities:
-in a walking district full of entertaining bars and lovely restaraunts
-in a white and rich area with no rednecks
-in nearly perfect condition with high quality finishes
-located where they will easily make 100K+ per year as a barrista or social media account manager

It turns out that houses that match that list of qualifications are located in only a handful of tiny areas in the USA and they mostly cost a fuckload of money. In reality though, a million dollar house isn't really overpriced when it's in an area that a normal household should be pulling down 200K a year.

Nice rack

I'm turning a nice wool blanket into an anorak. Couldn't stomach $350+ for a professionally made one. Never sewed anything from scratch, so this might turn into an expensive mistake, or a dozen scarves lol
