Nothing wrong with stencils, it's the lazy assed e-begging among strangers for knife ready artwork that deserves to be scorned.
If someone can't be bothered to create or at least steal images and learn how to turn them into functional stencils, they have no business using them for anything called "art".

Just to be clear, the art/artists that person ripped off aka "paid homage to" put a lot of effort into their minimalist compositions and could actually explain the points behind them and did so back in the 1950s and weren't copying anyone.
This "homage" is pretentious because "pretense" means-

a) labeling it an "homage" is an excuse for copying ither people's ideas
And
b) the entire point of copying other peoples ideas was to solicit fawning and even more pretentious artspeak pabulum like this-
