Common boomerfag tactic for views, to them it's like hacking the Pentagon. "$0" items on Craigslist outside of the designated "free" section are usually a scam, use a minimum $2 filter to hide that noise. Why would you enter a serious financial transaction with someone who begins the conversation with dishonesty Craigslist has an increasing number of smart/organized scammers but it's amazing how many scumbags you can filter out just by their inability to post a coherent, civilized ad.

Poor Donald. I respect him honestly coming to terms with his ability to finish the project, but I also mourn his loss. An unfinished project like this represents future potential, something to look forward to; conversely, abandoning it represents lost possibilities and newfound sense of mortality. Plus, there is always something cruel about the wife's victorious gloating when hubby "finally" admits defeat. He probably already tried selling it for scrap but the methheads couldn't be arsed disassembling it to fit pieces in the back in their Geo Metros. Unless the dude is paying extra for that land/storage, then I might even suggest he just keep the thing and use it as a funny base for seasonal decorations (lights and elves, skeleton pirates, etc). It'll become someone else's problem eventually.

Scrap it for profit. I'd cut the deal, call a salvage yard to come drag it (will need a large rollback or medium duty wrecker) then pocket the profit which won't be much but should be worth it. You can find the weight on decal or by looking it up.

If you're a mechanic the drivetrain might be worth torching out. Don't try to save trash, save what's good if anything and get money. You have been warned.

The drivetrain likely has very low miles.

>> No.2482727

>>2482284
If it's free, call or visit a local scrapper and find out what it takes to haul it off or if it would as is likely be better sliced in half or quartered which isn't much work.

Old people should not start multi-year projects they aren't able to knock out easily and no one should want a boat except for commercial fishing in which case copy success and buy one. I'd cut that bitch up and add it to my steel pile then scrap the leftovers but if you're not a metalworker scrap it all. Money is better than junk.

An act of reducing trash. I have perfectly good electric weed eaters never used, pretty popular with homeowners that don't give a shit and don't wanna spend money on chores essentially. I've been trying to get rid of them for 5 bucks and the fact I'm dealing with homeowners that don't give a shit makes this process definitely not worth 5-20 dollars. It's a shame cause they're perfectly good working units and id hate to throw it in the trash as it's wasteful.

Hell, this one person was going to pick it up but claimed she needed to know it worked when I stated I'll just do a porch pick up as I'm not meeting someone new for 5 dollars. Like bitch, it's 5 dollars and you know my address. why would I be selling broken shit like that.

I love responding to ads from people who are trying to give away, or sell for cheap, their prized pet meat animals. I give them a long song and dance about loving animals, and I show them some pictures I've saved of it's potential "new family" that match whatever species they have. I do indeed give them a wonderful home for about a month. They have space to roam, and all of the delicious grain they can eat. Then, straight into the freezer. I've gotten pigs, chickens, cows, ducks, goats, sheep, and horses this way.

Commiefornia fees do not max out as far as I know. They kept accumulating in order for them to get more revenue. That's why you shouldn't buy a used car that is unregistered without non op, because fees could be astronomical. Might be $100 a year for this since 1977 and you are paying nearly $5k for a suburban with no motor/trans. Not to mention penalties.

You can probably bribe some DMV worker to waive some of it, use a statement of facts, and suck them off to register and get a title. But with all the trouble it is sadly better off to be scrapped.

Oh I know, there's a thrift store in my town run by old people who are all volunteers. They have zero idea what anything is worth. They just throw a sticker on it and put it on the shelf. Hell I found a Yale safe in the free bin because they didn't know the combination. I busted it open and there was a bunch of paperwork in it, no money though

>because they are a fucking bitch to move.
>during my short time with a junk removal place i had the "we don't take donations, and if we did we certainly wouldn't take pianos" arguement with stubborn boomers every fucking week.

best thing to do is scrap it on the spot. Then it's easy/safe to move with 1 person.

If it doesn't have borer then there's a lot of nice wood panels, and big dimensional timber in the frame at the back.
Most of the weight is the cast iron harp which is easy to break up with a sledge hammer.
You can cut all the strings. Unwinding the pegs from the harp takes a few hours but you don't have to do it, They're just screwed into the soundboard/frame so you're scrapping more wood than otherwise if you don't. That's the only hard/tedius part.

The keys sell for about $50 as a hobbyist thing.
The cast iron is about $50 scrap value.
And you get some nice wood.

I'd say it's marginally worth the time if you want the wood.

Iron was $9/100 last I went so that means there would have to be at least 500lbs of cast iron in a piano

There are a good number of Hammonds which are worth money, quite a few are essentially the B3 with different other options. But even the B3 is hard to sell and can be found cheap. I know a B3 that was for sale for years, a little beat up but nothing major and worked perfectly, ended up dropping to $250 before it sold. The Farfisa portable organs and the early electric pianos (Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Clavinet) are the ones to watch for if you want to make money, all but one version of the Rhodes is easy to ship and fetch good prices and not limited by the local market. You have to pretty much be in a major metro to sell a B3 and even then it can take a good while to sell for any amount of money.

My dad modified a shop vac to suck bees into a small bee box when I was younger. He advertised on craigslist for free swarm/hive removal, and I would ride out with him. The success rate was maybe 50/50, but it was always a fun ride home. Sucks though because the bees never did well (harsh winters and big ag spraying shit every year), and my mom gave away the remaining hives as he is completely disabled now.

I hope one day I can settle down and bee the man he was, saving the swarms and hives.

I recently got this Bang&Olufsen crt television for free. It's 26" and sits on a motorstand, that turns and has a memory function. The sound system is BeoLabs technology. I almost blew my spine out carrying it into the fourth story, since it weighs 40.3 kilograms, plus 15 kilograms for the stand.

I'll have to use a hdmi/scart converter to watch Seinfeld, but it'll be glorious.
