So the 4th is coming up and i was wondering what my fellow /diy/hards are doing to celebrate.
I happen to be making a buttload of rocket candy.
If anyone else here does this please share some of your knowledge on additives and ratios.

Anyways, this is a 4th of July thread....Lets keep it legal and somewhat safe. (no pipe bombs)

Any tips for a long lasting smoke bomb with good output? Also, how to add color to a smoke bomb?
>Smoke bombs? Lame.
It's not really for 4th of July, some Halloween stuff I do works best with a smoke bomb rather than a fogger, but store bought ones don't last nearly long enough.

Ive done some pretty massive smoke bombs with 120g potassium nitrate 80g sugar and 80g paraffin wax. Ive heard that organic powder fabric dye works for coloring the smoke.

It says in the video solvent dye.

Anyone know if Stump-out can be used as a sufficient source of saltpeter? I'm looking to make some smoke bombs.

Here's some magnesium powder and potassium nitrate.
It makes for some blindingly bright flash powder. I forgot the ratio of the ingredients though....just google it

stump out doesn't work from what I've read.
Just go to lowes and get some spectracide stump remover. It's only $6

>> No.244762

>>244752
Nope. Stump out is Sodium Metabisulfate.

>> No.244917

>>244762
Clearly you haven't bought the stump remover to take a look at the back that says KNO3 Potassium Nitrate 99.9%.
Fuck off.
inb4 .1% is Sodium Metabisulfate.

Stump-Out, a brand name stump remover uses Sodium metabisulfite as the active ingredient.
Pic related, the makers website stating the active ingredient. Also, MSDS:
http://www.bonide.com/lbonide/msds/msds271.pdf
So, uhm, like, stop being an enormous, ignorant cunt.

For fun, Spectracide Stump remover's MSDS:
http://www.spectracide.com/~/media/Spectracide/Files/MSDS/Other/SpectracideStumpRemover_MSDS_DEC0308
.ashx

What's that?
100% Potassium nitrate!
No way! A stump remover with a completely different active ingredient! Blows my mind, man.

Again, ignorant cunt, stop being one, and so on.
