Newfag here, building an ABS computer for a car that never had one. I know it's a big undertaking mechanically. For now, how's this circuit I whipped up in LTSPICE?

Too many triangles.
Weird yellow box with numbers in the middle will obviously create faults.
And what do you think you're doing with the arch-shaped things?
They aren't even touching!
How do you expect electricity to flow?

And what's up with the squigglies?
Big man, wasting wire, huh?

That's probably illegal
I think stuff that fucks with your brakes needs to be certified or something

Bosch makes aftermarket abs stuff look for some tech papers (scholar.google.com) with circut diagrams. saftey is fucking serious here.

Do you have a private road where you can do your testing? This isn't the kind of thing you want to troubleshoot on public roads.

Why? You don't need ABS. Just slam your brakes a few times and learn some brake control.

ABS that is not working correctly is so fucking dangerous, I've almost been in several accidents because of it. Better to not have it/disable it if it is fucked up.

Have any of you guys ever messed around with open source ECUs? I'd never try it on my daily driver, but I admit the idea of breaking free from proprietary software is very appealing. How much tinkering and engine knowledge does it take to make these things work?

I suspect they aren't actually making arduino ECUs, but just using an arduino with a CAN adapter to talk to the actual ECU

>> No.2419983

no there's definitely people making actual ECUs, and there's no reason you couldn't use an arduino for it. pretty based if you ask me

>pretty based if you ask me

Maybe, maybe not. My 84 F150 came with a carb that was controlled partly by the ECU, and nothing worked. So I already had an AVR to monitor things like volts, coolant temp. transmission temp, so I deliberated using the AVR to control the carb idle speed, which was all the ECU used to do, with a linear actuator that pushed on the throttle.

I could never get past the fear that my code would go crazy and floor the throttle when I was sitting at a stop sign, so I never tried it.

First off you need to understand how ABS works before you design a computer to control it. I only see one power source, needs to be redundant. I only see one output per wheel. An ABS module has a normally open valve and a normally closed valve for each wheel you must control separately. I see you are running hall effect sensors presumably for wheel speed using the same power and ground as your microprocessor and brake light on the same feed. What is this controlling for an ABS module? You plan on doing the programming yourself? At this point you may as well do a bang bang type control because I see nothing here indicating you have the faintest clue what you stepped in. Trust me bro 25 year OE brake engineer with multiple vehicle control patents.

to be fair it might be a teeny bit less dangerous if he tested the code to recover from a reset even at max RPM and dont pull the stupid shit Toyota did with their watchdog kicker (where it can keep kicking even when tasks are spazzing out). Also anon's codebase is probably not as complex fucked as Toyota's

that said I'll still stay with you outside of anon's death-machine. Preferable behind some concrete barriers.

OP if I were to undertake this, I would find an earlier ABS vehicle that had a standalone ABS computer and just take the ABS components out of it.

and this: >>2419009, you can actually brake faster without abs if you're not a retard who just stands on the peddle. ABS was developed for women and suyboys.
