Didn't see one of these so... HYDROPONICS THREAD!

Let us discuss the practicality of hydroponic systems and the relative efficiency of each! I, myself, am a beginning hydroponics gardener, and I struggle to find proper pH balances and nutrient concentrations/compositions for watering vegetables. How would I determine what's best for each kind of vegetable?

I'm in the planning stages of building a medium sized A-frame greenhouse. Plan to do lots of hydroponic stuff. Still haven't figured out which system to use. I'll most likely try all of them to experiment and see which works best. Eventually I want to turn this into a business but right now I'm just learning how things work.

While hydroponics is really freaking cool, I often wonder if it is the correct thing to use for non-aqua-based plants. I mean I wonder how much nutrition is being lost not having the beneficial fungi and microbes that soil-planted plants receive?

Not only that, but don't like the idea of my food growing in anything plastic or having its water being held in plastic.

Could I use any of this to grow corn, blueberries, blackberries, tomatoes, cucumber, zucchini, watermelon, or green peppers? I already have those all planted but I would love to make a mobile/raised garden with a few pumps and stuff!
