A few days ago i made a thread here about switch pop.
Well i solved the problem, but not how i wanted to.
I took one leg of the mix knob and put part of the tpdt switch between it so it just cuts the wet signal out completely when its off. No longer true bypass but it doesn't take too much tone away.I may just make a bypass looper for it.

I know it wasn't the most ideal way to do it but its the only thing that worked.

Here's a recording of it in action:

Sorry for the shitty playing. I haven't been playing at all lately.

I saw your ad on Craigslist and I was wondering if you knew of anywhere around here I could sell some equipment without having to resort to Craigslist.

Not wanting to pawn this stuff, but I also hate going to Mike's because he's insane and stands over your shoulder from the time you walk in to the time you walk out.

>> No.226450

Silly OP, did you not try and use a pulldown resistor?

Otherwise, nice work. If the buffer is tone sucking try paralleling a 1M resistor between ground and the input. Might help.

I feel like a goddam autist, but for the life of me I can't get swirl painting to work. I have pasty oil paints that I'm thinning with mineral spirits, but they never spread out or stick to anything well, and water usually washes it right off. I've used many different amounts of Borax, and always let them sit quite a while before I start. Can you recommend a certain kind of oil paint, or is there something big I'm missing here?

On topic though, your pedal sounds fantastic. 1:35 it starts to sound a bit distorted though. I have no recommendation how to fix it or help though, just pointing it out.

i mostly use testors

for you i would say use testors (1103)red and (1147)gl black

that combo always works well for beginners

also be mindful of water temp, borax to water ratio, and how you prep the surface to be painted

it makes the paint spread out super thin.
have you ever been doing dishes and theres some shit floating in a bowl of water and you dab a little soap and it reacts by moving away from the soap...it works like that

roughly how long does it take from the time you put the borax in to when you take the item out, for a beginner?
I can't have something control water temp for me, i'll have to do it manually by adding hot and cold water, ideally more cold since it's less contaminated. wondering if thats plausible.

>> No.228862

>>228857
its called a hobo for a goddamn reason.

that aside, i will usually mix hot and cold too.
i dont use a heater/cooler

you mix in the borax and stir till the water is as clear as it can be.
as for a timeline it depends.
besides prep work(primer and base coats) i can swirl a pedal in 15-20 mins

>> No.228874

do i have to worry about enclosed spaces with any of it? other than primers, base coats, etc. those are spraypaint so obviously.
But if i did the swirling inside would it be a health hazard?

>> No.228911

>>228874
it definitely has a smell but it has never bothered me. testors enamel is solvent based so ide say at least have a fan in the room or a cracked open window.just dont have air blowing on the water because it will dry the paint on the water

I figured id share this. I made another analog delay and a few hours ago i had a little mishap with some ferric chloride. I was etching a visual representation of the doppler effect and i didn't realize that it reacts a lot faster with aluminum. So it started bubbling and getting hot, but i managed to save it.

ferric chloride is used for etching printed circuit boards. it dissolves metal.
i had a vinyl decal made to put on the aluminum case so the etchant would only eat away at the exposed parts.
