Anybody got any experience with reliant robins?
Its pretty much my little dream car.
Just wondering how hard it would be to restore one since its made of plastic and all?
I would like to buy one and make it a summer project.
Also if any anon has owned one/drove one could you share your experiences?

For the amount of money you'll end up spending, don't buy one to restore. Buy one that's complete then upgrade it.
Also British or American?

Put a wheel on each side like in Top Gear and enjoy mad cornering abilities.

Ah sorry just had a seizure so i'm still a bit brain dead... Anyways I was going to say if it's in the U.S. it wouldn't be worth doing it. Personally I would buy one with a body and interior in perfect condition and possible a knackered engine. Then buy a second one with a good engine, and combine the two

Talk to an owners club :)

Get on their boards, these cars still have a huge following in the UK as I'm sure you know. It's like the VW aircooled or Mini scene - still good with good people. Go and find them!

3-wheeled vehicles like that are a joke. It is one reason 3-wheeler atvs were outlawed in many places in the USA and why 4-wheel atvs are the norm now.

I'm of course referring to the one-wheel in front designs.

yeah ive been on some of the sites, and i know they meet up etc etc, but up here north of the border, i havent heard of any scottish enthusiasts :(

>>210403
i reckon it may take a bit of time to find two models in those states, but your right- its possible.

>>210415
atv's? what are they? if its all terrain vehicles, thats not what a reliant robin is. its strictly road only. and as for them being a joke? i guess thats a contributing factor as to why i want one. you never see them about nowadays.

It was just an import ban, which is gone now. It's perfectly legal to manufacture or import trikes.

ATCs are fun as hell to drive. With the solid rear axle, the only way to turn is to slide, which also makes it difficult to roll it while turning, a major problem with the Reliant Robin. They're not equivalent vehicles.

Yeah, the difference between delta and tadpole handling is huge, and the Robin was badly designed anyway. No stability at all.

Three wheelers can have acceptable stability but the Robin is not an example of this.

While it looks like it would be fun to drive, I cant believe you would consider this your "dream car".

Of all the various autos out there, THIS is your dream....
To each their own I guess. lol

Im in scotland too, and I hate to say it but even the wind here will roll the buggers, I had one for a while but In the 7 months I had it the wind rolled it twice when I was going about 40 od, was terrifying.

>> No.210497

Yes, but it was a Rialto and it was quite a while ago. What I do remember is that it was an absolute pig to work on because the bonnet is tiny and back end of the engine is accesible through a pair of removable panels under the dashboard. The brakes were abysmal and the brake adjusters seemed to sieze every time they needed adjusting and the seats were really rudimentary and quite uncomfortable.

Despite all that it was a hoot to drive. Also, Rialtos have galvanised chassis - Robins don't and rust quite badly.
