Kohler vs American Standard from the big box store

>> No.2044586

They both get the job done fine. Not much you can really get wrong with a toilet.

>> No.2044595

Buying a new house soon, and will probably be replacing toilets.
Are any brands know for being taller? How about more compact?
My wife and I are both several inches taller than average

>> No.2044620

Toto 1.6 gpf. Single or two piece will work. These don't clog like the other two. I would also recommend a single flush, dual flush is annoying.

All big box fixtures are basically identical quality. Kohler (and the others) make nicer products, but you'd get those from plumbing supply stores.

tall toilets are for old people and fatties who have trouble standing up. the shorter the toilet, the better squat position you have. here in 'murrica you will notice that 90% of toilets are all the tall 16.5 inch height, rather than standard 15 inch.

I’m going to be replacing around 6 toilets soon and narrowed it down to the AS Cadet3 and the Kohler Arc models that are “on sale” for 160 at the big box. Both have a lot of positive reviews so I figure they have been purchased a lot too? Should I use the wax ring or buy the rubber ring to use instead?

This is sadly true.
Found 3 turds before they started elevating the displays.

I watched a mother at the return desk go from casual to mortified as she turned around to see her kid already dropped its pants and about to make a deposit in the display toilet that was behind her

Toilet dimensions are for the most part standardized across brands. If you're looking for something taller you should look at ADA compliant toilets as the seat height is typically about 2 to 3 inches taller than on a standard toilet.

>>2044832
>Should I use the wax ring or buy the rubber ring to use instead?
it entirely depends on how the toilet flange is installed. sometimes it's right on the subfloor or foundation, other times it will be on top of the tile or flooring, depending on when the flange was installed compared to the rest of the house finishing. you'll need to evaluate what is right for each application.

I have a Kohler that was taking forever to refill. It came with a custom OEM FluidMaster valve that had some kind of styrofoam plug in the bottom, I assume for noise abatement. Over time it swelled up and caused the slow refill. I just pulled it out and now it works fine.

I should also add that it's a botch trying to replace the non-standard Kohler flush handle and lever.

As a proud American the bigger the better. Less clogs, fuck the water. More comfy.

I got a wooden toilet seat bolted to a fold up metal chair at work and its more comfortable than the faggot tiny people shitter I got at home.

But the one I got at home will flush like 25 gallons straight out a pipe into a shit pond using well water.

Only thing better than both is oval shipped walmart shitty that uses forced water pressure to flush full sized dachshunds with a horseshoe lid bit for private use.

One day anons....

One day

American standard champion 4. My wife and kids shit forearm sized logs, I was having to pick them up and put them in the trash with a Kohler. I am not kidding and I'm talking about MY forearm.

Also buy the $14 wax ring, the one that comes with the toilet is puny and is probably smashed.

>> No.2045702

>>2045511
because now you have to seal horizontally with zero help from gravity so a wax ring will no longer be enough
you have to have a fancy flange in the wall with proper weight bearing blocking

I spend way too much time at Home Depot and one of the employees told me never to get the American Standard tubs because they're always packaged horribly and many are broken when they arrive.. I would surmise their toilets also incur much shipping damage
