Nice! Old tools look so nice.

Not a major tool compared to a lathe but I got this no5 the other day at an antique store. It's a war era one and not collectable or anything but it works great except the plastic depth adjuster knob rusted free from the threaded insert. Made a mild steel knob for the mean time but if I get some free time at work I'll make a proper brass one.

>>2026664
How much do they want for it? SDS is a lifesaver when you need it. Backup charger is always good to have as well. Depending on the price though, if you could lose a tool and step up to newer brushless stuff, you could probably end up with a much better saw and maybe a hammer drill which would cover for some of the SDS jobs.

Hmm, Just added the separate parts in Amazon, comes to £884 if I include the bags that I didn't even want.
The kit I saw was £1085, which is a horrible deal.

>Not the planer or the outdated models of drill and impact and the useless lamp?
I'm buying these to clad out a van like a Swedish sauna, It is very unlikely I'll use the SDS drill this year, however...

>>2026684
>Or keep it, you never know when you'll need to put some holes in concrete. Is the drill a hammer drill?
Hmm you have a point. I was planning on bumming around in my van for a couple of years then building a wood cabin. The SDS would be useful for drilling into foundations, or logs. I might buy separate, but if I find the kit cheaper I'll keep it.

Until you realize you really needed 18V tools. Milwaukee Fuel at $220 seems like a good buy, but not if the 12V is your only battery platform when you need a wide range of cordless tools. You’re going to be spending money on the 18V packs soon enough.

I was tempted to get a kit like that instead of the subcompact, but I didn’t want a cordless 5” orbital sander. I’m the biggest shill for cordless tools, but it seemed awkward to use with a 6.0 pack on top. I think it was a brushed circular saw and an older brushed drill as well.

The subcompact stuff is better than I expected it to be. I never did the math that the 18V brushless with a 2.0Ah pack would be smaller than the brushed 12V with a 4.0Ah pack, and the 12V with that battery is only 20% more capacity.

>>2026962
>>2027018
I shilled for the 12V stuff, especially for techs, but it shouldn’t be your first and only cordless set. There’s a whole lot of anons buying 12V stuff because they want that red lightning bolt for <$200 when they would be better off with Ryobi 18V or save up the extra $75 for M18.

And I ditched the first Venezuelan, coffee grill, got another one at the 7eleven and wifed her.

>>2027087
They’re nice, but hopefully you don’t need a real saw or hammer drill any time soon. The 12V drills are pretty capable, but not when you need to start going through metal and masonry.

Those 'newer' Craftsman radial arm saws were not very good. They were well into the cost cutting era and were simply not very good machines. Too lightly build so they flexed when cutting and don't hold their settings. You basically have to check them for accuracy every time you use them or your cuts will be wonky. It also appears that the anti-kickback paul was removed. Like table saws, that is a tool where you don't want to be removing the safety gear.

The table saw is much newer. You can tell by the bald-faced lie printed on the side claiming it 'develops' 3.0 horsepower. Unless it has a 20 amp plug or runs on 220 volts, it will be nowhere close to that. As long as the table is flat and the fence is accurate it will do a good job cutting. Just feed slower than you would expect a 'three horsepower' motor to handle.
