Someone cut one of the two main hot feeds as pictured (buried wire from provider), and now that wire is too short to goto the top the the meter box, options???

Pull a new wire.

and unfortunately this typically isn't a /diy/ activity. someone will need to climb the pole and splice the new cable.

Yeah you are fucked you need to pull new wire and specify service loops for any future changes

>> No.1979832

Too much $ to run underground 220 feet, inline splice? Power company will hook up the other end... I was thinking inline splice?

What size of cable is it? You could lower the box, doesn't look anchored to the blocks yet. Can try pulling conductors down just far enough to get as much as you need and pulling them back up afterwards.

>> No.1979841

Splice a foot long extension onto the short wires. It's in a box ffs. Perfectly legal under NEC312.8. You can get a 4/0 splice kit at any big box for $25-$30.

Yeah, get a splice kit. It's legal.

Its a 200 amp service feed i am not sure of the wire size 0 maybe? Something as pictured?

>>1979846

It's 4/0 bro.

I guess you could. When somebody opens up the box in the future they'll know what happened though. You could take the box off, unthread the conduit out and cut down, then rethread and put back on.

>> No.1979857

This would be the first thing I'd try. Lower the box. If that fails then the splice kit.

>> No.1979863

Will try to move down the box 1st. I will have to make sure it meets the ground to box distance requirement. I just wanted to make sure a splice wouldn't cause any issues on service wire if I go that route. Thanks everyone!

>> No.1980224

A bit of leftover wire and tape should do it

>> No.1980410

>>1979863
Don't lower the box below the minimum meter height or the power company will have your ass.

Fart on it until it faints

Anon, is that hot or neutral

>> No.1980568

It is one of the two hot.

Have the pole monkey swap the longer neutral for the short hot. Problem solved.
