So i just finished this and I'm pretty proud of it seeing as i don't have much experience working with acrylic. It's a micro drive distortion/booster/overdrive. Lemme know what you think.

I spent more time on the box than i did on the circuit.

pretty cool but i don't think i would trust a pedal made of acrylic. How thick is the acrylic and how sturdy is the actual case itself.

I got a little doubt.

I want to start making some of these beginner projects in the next days, but how do i get layouts of projects?

Do i just use normal pcb's instead? Do i have to make my own layouts?

There are many.
Banzaimusic is dedicated to stompboxes DIY basically. Or whatever big electronic components distributor (like Conrad), but you'll have to browse immense catalogues to find what you'll need.

OP your acryilic enclosure is cool but it won't provide any electrical shielding at all. Not good for a distortion pedal (or whatever has an high gaig stage).

Few advices on stompboxes DIY:
>do it if you actually want to learn something, otherwise it's just a waste of time and nerves. Better buy pedal if you don't want to learn analog electronics and audio related circuits

>if you want to learn the experience will be rewarding. Not that you can easily start a business (the market is crowded with "boutique" stompboxed) but you can build great clones for nichels, do mods and repairs like a boss. But you have to study a bit.

>80% of effects are cheap enough to just get 'em in a store. Clone the ones that are fucking expensive, like ZVEX's.

use shielding adhesive tape, either aluminium or copper. Stick it on the inside surface of the box, and connect a ground wire to it.

I have an Epiphone Valve Junior head that hums when you turn the volume up

>pulled tubes
>broke EL84
>sat for 3-4 years

Put in a new EL84 a few days ago, and it fired up
after playing for 10 minutes it started humming loud

It swapped the 12ax7 with 2 different ones and it didnt help
I only have 1 el84, but tapped it with an eraser and it didnt make noise

Should I look at the caps or what?
This amp has literally 2-3 hours on it.I bought it, and never played it
I pulled it out to mod it and broke the tube so It just sat.

When I put the new tube in, I neglected to put the interference shield on the 12ax7.
I did put it on after the hum but didnt help

Did I fuck it up somehow?

>> No.202522

>>202519
there's two tubes. How about the 12ax7?

also, did you cover the tube sockets? may have picked up some dust. clean out the sockets, test again.

also, when you broke the el84, it broke outside of trhe amp, right? you didn't end up with socket pieces, did you?

>> No.202528

>>202522
I have swapped the 12ax7 with 2 other ones I have laying around and hum stayed the same

I dropped the EL84 on the floor so yeah it was out.
I guess sockets did sit out in the middle of the open for a few years so ill go blow em out with canned air or something
