I want to build a bunk bed. Is there any plans available out there without using any power tools?

Cutting wood and drilling holes can be done with either power or manual tools. Just find plans and use the tools you prefer. Unless you're looking for some hand-holding youtube that says "use exactly this tool held just like this", then you need to go practice some simpler projects first.

I think the drill is going to be the bigger hurdle. Miter box and saw is like <$20, but you will probably need screws since nails will loosen up with movement. Hand drill some pilot holes and then use a screwdriver to drive the screws, but also you can get a cordless drill with batteries for $20 and it’s hella useful. I’ll give you a fuckin B&D 12V drill if you come get it, but there’s no charger.

Also Home Depot will make 2 cuts for free if you buy lumber from them.

yeah. just go buy a few thousand dollars worth of fine hand tools and you're good to go.

Also an axe. And hopefully the soil is good and OP is young because you gotta plant those pine trees and wait a few years before they’re big enough to build a bunk bed.

Is a water wheel considered a power tool?

A few thousand? Good lord... He could build a bunk bed with a handsaw, a couple of chisels, a bench plane; then some kind of drill, a pencil, a square, a measuring tape, sandpaper and finish (the "second list" he'll need regardless of whether he uses power tools or hand tools). Yes, it will take a little practice, he will make mistakes, and it will take longer. If he's never used power tools then that would take some practice, he'll make mistakes, and it won't be as fast as Norm would do it. You guys acting like you have to be a genius, master level craftsman to use a saw and a hand plane really don't know what you're talking about.

>> No.1746778

Everyone suggesting carpentry level shit.
How about just logs and rope?

>> No.1746801

Niggers can build huts, I'm sure OP could make some sort of bed contraption. It'll probably fall apart but still.

130 cad for the Kreg jig
258 cad for the ujk jig.
a chunk of aluminum is not worth 128 dollars to me.

It's not just a "chunk of aluminium". It has more versatility, the drill guide is removable and can be taken to the job in situ if needs be. It also has a longer life due to not being plastic. Plus it is made in the UK, and I'm a UK nationalist and will always buy British if I can.

You faggots really like overcomplicating shit
>>1746701
You can make pic related with a screwdriver, handsaw, and a square. Shit you probably don't even need the square if we're being this rudimentary. For your supplies you need 4x4s, 2x4s and some self tapping screws. Unless you're a fat fuck in which case get some thicker shit fatty

the kreg one is also removable and the inserts are metal.

Fair enough

Yeah, but the guide the inserts are fixed to (for alignment) is plastic.

If you’ve got a pc, id say make your own plans. SketchUp is a nice free software for that. All you will really need is a hand saw, hand drill and screwdriver (and some screws of course), and some sandpaper. Even if you don’t like power tools though you should go for a cheap random orbital sander. It will save you from the hell that is hand sanding a big project

Ikea, they also provide the tools:-)
Made some bunk beds out of square metal profiles (about an inch in diameter, from memory). Turned out pretty good, but you'd need a mig welder at least to do that, but then only a hacksaw.

There is virtually nothing a patient man cannot do with a set of chisels, a pull saw, and a breast drill. There are tons of books at your local library with plans.

How will he support the mattress or box spring anon? I think you need another few hours on your design

Screw on some cross members, jesus fuck do I have to draw out every single obvious detail. Might as well ask how will the fatass get on the top bed? I don't fucking know, perhaps a ladder? Or what about the safety guard rails to keep his fatass from falling off? Just add another fucking piece of wood across

Are these actually worth it? Man I want at least that small one but $50-$100 seems like a lot for that thing when I’m not building high level furniture. I have having screws sticking out of corners though.

>>1746820
I still use my same bedframe from when it was a bunkbed with my little bro. Was a full size on the bottom and then it angles on one side to a twin on the top.

Top part is long gone, but the whole thing is basically 2x8’s, and then 2x2’s screwed into the two main lengths, and then 1x4’s laying across, on the top of those 2x2’s to support the box spring. The two main long beams are held up by a couple big lag bolts. That thing would be super easy to build, it’s not even any angled cuts.

there are diy ones on youtube that are just as good
i bought one because i like buying tools

>> No.1746877

There is this Youtube channel called "Woodworking for Humans" that is focused on making wood stuff with hand tools.

He does some cool stuff with those tools.
