How feasible would it be to make a desk similar to this? I've had 3 back surgeries and I can't sit in a chair anymore.
Also interested to hear what other solutions anons with back pain have done.

They have some pretty wild stuff but I'm not about to drop six thousand dollars on a desk.

Is that Yankee money? Crazy.
Those pipe bends are horrible.

>> No.1718398

Doesn't look like a bend to me but more like multiple short piped cut at an angle welded together. They probably have a reason to do it like this since that's much more trouble than a bend.

How bout a desk with tilting top and wheels that you can move over an adjustable bed or sunbed? Add a monitor stand you can clamp to the desktop and you should be set with a cheap ghetto alternative.

The only thing its missing is an attached mini fridge and flap in which you shit through into a bucket, then you could truly live the life of luxury. You'd never even need to get out of bed.

trivial to make one for users under 300lbs.
350lb landwhales require a stronger frame, wider chair, more powerful tilt assist ram, wider base with more wheels, CPAP/oxygen integration and a rotating pizza table. additionally, 400lb hamplanets will need a split keyboard, as they cannot reach a conventional typing position while reclined.

monitor with vesa mount on adjustable arm
they also make keyboard trays that have brackets to connect to vesa mounts
-basically recliner plus shit either held up from the side, or handing from A-frame overhead (like a swingset frame)

the monitors and keyboard tray on arms in OP pic is kind of simple standard shit. just made larger/heavier duty. The oversized keyboard tray/desktop is something interesting in itself. the motorized recliner isn't special either, it's just a skeleton frame version.
Basically the only unique thing in OP pic is that it is all in one, on a single frame, and on rollers

>> No.1718724

That doesn't look that hard to build, if you are ok without the fancy curved frames, just using square tubing instead.

unironically not this
OP might be legit. He said back surgeries.

Maybe he had them because he looks like your pic but I have a feeling he might not be obese because the man in his OP clearly isn't and a desk like that wouldn't work with a YUGE belly - also, without arm rests at the elbow, an obese man's 80 pound forearms would be difficult to hold in that position with the steadiness and precision to control a mouse for long.

nice meme though.
WALL-E was great.

>>1718449
Anon, your setup looks trashy.
You should get a 20" furnace filter for the back of your box fan to filter the air it blows. Replace that once every 3-6 months and you'll have a DIY budget air filter.

Yeah, the two guys that make all 6 of them a year couldn't afford a CNC pipe bender that could make compound bends and were too stupid to figure out how to do it manually or change the design so that it wasn't necessary.

Most likely permanently.

Even recliners are painful and only tolerable if my legs are a certain way. Laying in bed is most comfortable but not enough to be able to intensely focus.

I like it. DIY at it's penultimate. A bit of finish would improve it's look, but iron pipe is solid as fuck. Good design.

Heavier duty monitor arms can definitely handle the monitors in that position, but they'll cost a few hundred. Hell the heavy duty ones would probably support that table top too. The rest, no clue. You could make the frame out of aluminum extrusions for relatively cheap

Like four or five beanbags and a ghetto rail-slide monitor setup made out of 2x4 and wireless keyboard.

As long as you've just got a bad back it ay work.

If you weigh >100kg it's gonna suck getting up every few hours to piss/eat/shit.

ive thought about building one myself, best i could think up was getting hold of an old dentists chair or mobility chair and then attaching a swinging arm for the monitors instead of those swivel lights usally attached to them.

it's a neat idea but theres no room in my house to make it happen and desu i dont watch a lot of tv or do gaming anyway

just pleb my way through skyrim

Wouldn't do dental chair. Mount rot bactera everywhere, plus there's more jizz on them than hourly motel beds.
Too many overworked dentists and gassed/drugged girls.

Imagine trying to get out of that thing in a hurry with a bad back and a bad case of diarrhea.

Armchair or bed, get some wall mounts for your monitor. You should be able to find a workable lap/bed desk, or make one yourself.
Prop yourself up with pillows.
Consider a wireless mouse and keyboard. Not sure how the tard in that picture will keep his mouse from falling on the floor when he lets go - magnets maybe? Looks like it's wireless.

Do be wary about spending long periods with your knees elevated above your hips. I spent time trying to figure out how to unfuck my desk since I spend most of the day as a programmer - the little stuff matters to prevent paint.

From the way he holds it I guess it's a track ball.

That is true, could be a track ball.

I remember I had some interview offer for a tech startup in Cali - they had chairs not unlike this, but didn't flip you all the way on your back. Their offices also straight up looked like the interior of the S.S. Enterprise, they had cosplay photos on their site.
Crazy stuff, I might have considered it just for the heck of it - but no way am I moving to California.
