Looking for advice on a DIY target camera system. Commercial systems cost $400+. Shooting 250+ yards, I cannot see bullet holes through my spotting scope

Also, No WIFi edition.
I can FaceTime my iPhone to my iPad, but the iPad must be on WIFI.
Thoughts?
I’m open to other cameras, receivers, applications to DIY a system.

Ok, I’m not familiar with your terminology, but I guess it’s a start.

>>1701673
Thanks, at least you understand. Even with a scope it’s hard to see .30 inch holes at 250 yards.

Maybe I can mount my phone to the peep.

>Ok, I’m not familiar with your terminology,
He's talking about First Person Viewing
It's used for the cameras on drones and other RC stuff.
A camera and transmitter are $25 and up.
A receiver that connects to an Android phone is around $15 and up.
I don't know about connecting to iPhone / IOS
The receiver is generally connected to goggles or a monitor.

Thank you, I just google fpv cameras and found the drone info.
The price point it good.
I assume I need
Camera with transmitter
Camera power supply
Receiver with monitor.
All capable of transmitting more than 250 yards.

Just get two smartphones and a tripod.
>Setup phone1+tripod at the target and videocall phone 2.
>Take phone 2 with you.
>Try not to shoot phone 1
Should work everywhere where you have decent internet.

Why no wifi? This little GoPro knockoff I got at Walmart transmits on Wifi to a phone or tablet with the app.

seems like a reactive target of some kind would be better than a ridiculous 3d printed audiono powered altoids tin mechanism to stream video

Target pits, moving target backers and a buddy downrange with a walkie talkie is possibly the easiest way.

>FPV cameras - how far they will transmit
I don't own one but from what I've seen of 'drone' footage, I'd guess the 600mw transmitter could do 1000 feet or more.
You're on a range. There aren't any obstacles.

If you're within line of sight and have your antenna pointed correctly, you'll have no issues getting that distance with pretty much any off-the-shelf fpv transmitter/receiver. Go ask in the /rgc/ thread here for setup suggestions. Easiest would be to get a 5V capable one and run it off USB power banks on both sides imo.
