I got in, guys.
Local 683
What the fuck should I expect?
Coming from a customer service job, I know how to work a pair of wire strippers though.

To be low man on the totem pole, know your place. Do what you’re told. Learn what you need to learn. You’ll journey out in no time.

to get shit on by old boomers who know what they're doing but have their own dumbass way of doing it and everyone getting frustrated with you. you don't have an electrical job until after your first year of apprenticeship

white wire always needs to connect with the black wire at least once per circuit .

if you see loose wires just tie white and black. takes most green kids months to wrap their head around it , take initiative , impress the job manager

show up to work everyday on time
it's okay to be funny
watch once, then repeat
no man left behind, apprentices are expected to clean up, haul heavy shit for JW's

industrial guys are massive dickheads, but are generally excellent at their craft

always carry on you:
non-contact tester
wire stripper
wire nuts
6/32 screws
channellocks if industrial, linesman if commercial
headlamp
electrical tape
sharpie, pen, and pencil
multi-screw driver
grounded pigtails
numbers/letters (wire labeling)

some neat things to snag: red devils/red heads, cat-e-pillars

Everyone fucking sucks at explaining it.
1. Hot is Wire with Voltage
2. Neutral is Wire with Voltage largely absent, it is the leg which appears after the load. Neutral completes the circuit. Neutral is grounded at the main panel. Separate neutrals generally means separate circuits are run. Cutting the neutral means voltage builds up on the existing load, and pops. (Think of voltage like pressure).
3. Ground is the ground wire. It goes straight to ground.

Switch leg is the "hot" wire controlled by the switch

Electricity is like water. Voltage is like water pressure. You need water pressure to get shit done. You need a complete circuit, else the water leaks everywhere and nothing works.

Three phase coloring. How far away from a multiple of 6.
-3 = blue or yellow
-2 = black or brown
-1 = red or orange
0 = blue or yellow
+1 = black or brown
+2 = red or orange
+3 = blue or yellow
