That is because fusible resistors have largely replaced fuses, which is lame since in things like fans, they are generally stuck under the tape right on the winding making them a pain to replace, but good since morons can not replace the fuse with tin foil.

While the circuit breaker will protect your house, it will generally not protect what is plugged into that circuit.

It appears i have caused some controversy. Here's the old plug. There is also a tag that says "don't use this if broken" but i know enough to know that's probably bullshit. Which means the fuse (or maybe its a resistor?) might be bullshit, too.

Same is true for 220/380V.
I mean people in 220V countries are immune to 220V, while americans will die from 220V.
Only people in US which are immune to 220V are HVAC niggers, they touch fucking caps and 2 phases with fingers, because they are too lazy to get a fucking live wire detector

Step 1: Buy a UK plug (such as this piece of shit https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32504967829.html))
Step 2: Cut the US plug head off and put the wires into the UK plug
Step 3: Insert fuse rating of choice into newly wired UK plug
Step 4: Plug New UK plug into UK -> US socket adapter, then into wall.

There you have it, the worst answer in this thread yet.

the reason for the fuse is so that they can get away with using shitty aluminum and or thin ass wires in their cord. and that if the cord is severed or damaged, it wot cause a fire because the 22ga aluminum wires will glow like a lightbulb before the 20a house breaker will trip.

if you cant find said fuse plug, then just replace the whole cord with a quality one and dont worry about it.

I doubt if there's ever been a flexible cord in the USA with aluminum conductors. They still use it for the huge mains conductors, but after the problems in the 70s or so I don't think anybody uses it for distribution inside a structure.
