How to repair holes in walls properly? And how to patch wallpaper afterwards?

depends on wall material. if its sheetrock, you're going to want to cut out a piece of sheetrock to fit, leaving about an inch of paper around the actual block, then putty over it and sand smooth. As for the sheet or wall paper you're probably going to need a new sheet.

Op this >>1616810 is the way I’ve heard other people do it. I’ve never tried it. It sounds easier than the way I do it but I’ll tell you anyway. I haven’t had to patch a hole since I heard of the other method. My method works perfectly but like I said may not be easier.
>take poster board
>cut piece slightly larger than hole
>make two small hole in center of poster board
>run twine through holes and tie in knot to make loop
>apply Elmer’s glue to edge of poster board and inside hole around diameter
>bend poster board In whatever way it takes to get it cone shaped to fit into hole whole holding onto twine loop
>once inside hole pull on loop to make poster board tight against inside of wall
>place pencil or dowel rod through loop and rotate pencil till twine is tight and pencil is Wright against wall
>apply more glue around seam between wall and poster board if needed
>let dry, cut twine loop and remove, fill cavity with joint compound
