Trying to use something handheld won't get you far. To get anywhere near "micro" soldering, you need something like a 10X loupe, and trying to somehow mount that to give you anything half usable is just not going to pan out. I tried for a while before giving in and buying a shitty Amscope. The low end models are just a couple hundred bucks, money well spent to bypass the headache imo.

I tried cheaping out. Head visor magnifying glasses are garbage unless you buy a really really expensive one not made in china, and I don't even know where to find one. The $20 or $50 one on amazon is garbage.

If you get an articulated arm magnifying glass, you... might be able to do something. I would go back and forth between it and just looking at the thing. This wasn't even really micro soldering. Not like a MacBook or anything. This was just some industrial equipment from the 2000s, but it was mostly surface mount.

If you are going to do microsoldering more than once a month, I'd save up for a microscope.

get better eyes

also, get a loupe

fuck those overhead magnifier lamps, getting it close enough to where you can see and also have enough space to work is bullshit.

It's really not that big of deal, just need to build up the calluses, only the tip of the iron gets solder melting hot.

I got a pocket sized 60x-120x microscope for $5, but I have no idea what to do with it.

The only thing that could be more triggering about that image is if they ran a screw or bolt through the busbar and through the wire behind it. What third world shithole is this and why do they love wasting money so much?

If you don't know how to use them, sure. Even the cheap as shit ones work pretty well. Wouldn't get one with a holster tho, wtf.
