Are they worth it? Should I just keep doing the safety squint behind my cheap prescription sunglasses? Will they even help me if some retard bumps into me while I'm doing sketchy power tool stuff and I kick up some shrapnel? Would I get more pussy with a pirate eye patch anyway?

There are safety glasses that you can put over your prescription glasses.

Isn't the tint option just a shade more expensive when ordering prescription safety glasses? Like $20 more?

They're really nice. My employer pays for me to get a pair every two years. I love using them when edging and not worrying about catching a rock to the eye.

Eye protection is important, especially when you don't see things coming.

I hate it when things come in my eye.

OP here:
I do have a pair of those goofy over-the-glasses ones that I break out when I'm using an angle grinder and stuff like that but they don't stay on good if I'm not standing still and upright. I can get my job to partially pay a pair but I'm not sure where to order from. Where do you guys who have em get yours?
please help keep the jizz out my peepers

Near sighted horizontal mill operator reporting in.

They might be a little pricy, but they are 100% worth it. I love not having to squint or worry about catching hot chips in my eyes.

I'm about to get eyeglasses. Do they make impact resistant lenses that also do the transition shade thing and are antifog

Can anyone recommend a website that sells prescription safety glasses

My company uses Hi Tech Optical. Are they good? I dunno. But free is good and we can get one per year. You just pad for extras the company doesn't cover.

My personal experience on the matter:
I splurged on the first pair. I hardly wear them anymore. I was going for fashionable backup for my main eyewear with removable side shields. But the whole getup is bulky.

My second pair will just be plastic/polycarbonate wraparounds where the side shields are integrated. Lighter and more compact, they just look like something a high-speed skier would wear.

The same place you get all your safety and medical equipment:

No. Just wear contact lenses and buy a fresh pair of non-prescription ones every couple of weeks.

That's what I do anyway - my safety glasses always get scratched quickly so I've never even considered prescription ones. Way too expensive over time.

And yeah..."scratch proof" never is (I've bought fancy safety glasses a couple of times none of them ever lasted any longer than regular ones).

Its because plastic is so damn soft. Getting glass to pass an impact test is expensive, so no one makes glass safety glasses.

You can still order Rx glass safeties. They're heavy as fuck and from most places take a month or two to get.

Yes, you can get transitioning lenses in safeties. As for fogging, I just use quickspit on mine. Coatings wear off too quickly if you clean the lenses often.
