What is a no bullshit basic answer to how much a meme container should cost?

Depends on where you live. Where I'm at its 2.5k or more, I've only seen a single one for sale for 2000. If you live closer to a shipping hub, or in the middle of nowhere maybe 1500, but they aren't cheap anymore because of meme status

$1500 for a 40 footer in Detroit. The 20 footers go for an even grand here.

Finland here. New standard containers are 4800€ and used ones depending on condition 2200-4000€

They are still cheap if you live at an end of the line port that gets in far more containers than it ships out. They try and sell them here, but there is not enough demand so every so often they are near free to anyone with the equipment to get them out of the yard.

2.4k Aud 20" here

>> No.1560708

All depends on condition.
Here in FL, a 20' wind/weather safe dry box in decent condition, non-structural dents and a little rust here and there, maybe $1200 (delivered). A 40' one-trip unscratched shiny nice box, $4000.

>he's falling for the 'container house' meme
Why don't you not waste your time and instead buy a used travel trailer or motorhome and renovate it? You know, something that was originally intended for humans to live in, instead of something that was designed for cargo?
>b-b-but I want to bury it in my yard and have a fallout shelter (or somesuch shit)
That never works. Stop being dumb.

Current prices in New Zealand from a quick scan over trademe:

- 40ft containers are rare as balls because they're hard to move here, mostly just 20ft on offer.

- New one is ~5.5k NZD

- Good condition used one is ~3k NZD

- Lowest I can see for a crap one is 2.5k NZD

Oh wait, found some 40ft ones, mostly in Auckland. Seem to be about ~1k above the 20ft ones.

1200€ delivered for 20 footer. ~2k for 40 footer.

But if you have to buy it the normal route don't bother. They are nice if you can get a random write-off or are in position to deliver it yourself.

In that case it's better to get a "module" already purpose built for your needs (e.g. with windows and wiring), or buy one of those DIY containers you can transport in plain car trailer.

Very much depends on the condition of the container..

Last time I checked (maybe 2 years ago) an old 40ft container will cost about $2k.. expect a bit of rust, obviously.

Transport not included.

If you are looking for improvised living quarters, I highly recommend refrigerated truck containers.

They come with insulation, wiring and a fuse box. Very easy to convert to something livable.

Also in FL (north part, pretty country), can confirm these prices. I see them on the side of the road, spray-painted with a price tag, seem to all fall in this range

Or, better yet, just fucking purpose build something. Of you want something that small, it won't be any more expensive than a fucking container or wooden box on wheels.

Everyone knows that we don't have the technology purchase a cheap shipping container.
The only explanation is that an alien must have made them to be so expensive to prevent Neets from purchasing it and to be enigmatic.
I know, I know. I was skeptical too, but now it makes so much sense, that I am amazed that I ever doubted in the first place.

5000 pounds means about $400 dollayrdoos in scrap. It also means about a grand in transportation costs on average. More if you get it from across nation, less if you get it from within state.
So a reasonable amount is something like 2-3 grand.
Just buy structural steel and make your own structure, it will be absurdly cheaper.
