When I was a child, I was watching a gas well site. The men were letting well pressure off into the atmosphere. It made a whistling sound like a billion train whistles and all the pipes connected to it start turning white and growing really long frost. The whistling was so loud that the men had to run away. It did that for about half an hour, before it lost enough pressure for the men to return, and the entire area smelled like gas. The pipes literally disappeared under frost and ice. It took 3 days for the ice to go away and it was summer.

Crumpled the scissor jack like a piece of paper.
I didnt own jackstands, the only reason I was using the crappy scissor jacks was because the old cheap hydraulic jack we had been using had a failing cylinder which would bring the car down after like 10 minutes.

I used to use my car's emergency scissor jack for repairs, too. because I didn't have anything else.
I had the same thing happen, "is the car slowly mov- oh shit"
the steel fingers on the jack crumpled, and the jack kinda got wedged in the sway bar somehow so it didn't crash down. it surely would have fucked up the rotor and god knows what else if it did. I got a log out of the woods, wedged it under the axle to keep it from falling worse, and begged a hydraulic jack from somebody.
lesson fucking learned, now I carry a little hydraulic jack and two jackstands in the car.

It's not as easy to accidentally light gasoline with a cigarette as you might think. Generally requires a spark. If you're feeling like living a little dangerously with the dice roll, you can actually put out a cigarette in a bucket of gasoline.

Most farmers (where I'm from at least) know at least one person who's died from carbon dioxide/monoxide from pits, underground silos, etc. Even above ground silos can be dangerous as fuck when you have to get inside them, eg. when repairing them, rewelding them, etc.

Basically: sealed, enclosed spaces are dangerous. Whether it be a pit, silo, or a WW2-era submarine.

Happened to a friend of a friend. He was working at Port Mellon. His friend was up on top of a transformer you're a mean bus looking around with his Maglite. He dropped the damn thing and a connected to hot ends to the return and immediately connected 10000 amps across his Maglite when it touch the two. The amount of power going through the flashlight instantly vaporized it and exploded into a hot cloud of superheated metal gas and burned him over 65% of his body. Another accident that happened in a pulp Mill that he got lecture on, because he was a fireman on duty, was a heat exchanger they're doing welding on caught fire and they tried to put it out with water. The thing was made up of welded titanium and they were trying to put out a titanium fire with water. This did not go very well. If you guys ever seen a magnesium fire? This is almost as bad. It's "haul truck" but as i am a loadout at a limestone mine I'll allow it due to hilarious hoodie i am buying now.

Haul truck drivers are typically the potatoe teir rookies. Basically anyone with a face can jump in one. You don't even need a driver's liscense if you stay on site.

We had a high school kid on summer break and a guy with 6 DUIs rocketing down the haul road in quarter million pound trucks...

Be careful. All jokes aside even lifers in a haul truck can fuck up. Drive, load, dump, over and over all fucking day while the diesle motor tries to hum you to sleep. It's easy to get complacent or distracted.

Hell, half the guys i used to work with would spend the day on face ook flying around in 50 ton CAT haul trucks.

Well to be accurate you would probably have a hard time ingniting liquid gasoline in any fashion. I’ve thrown lit matches into a small cup of gas and they went out.

>fuck around for a bit diagnose it to a fucked ignition control module
>need to use hot water to rinse a bunch of leaked diesel off a hoe
>main burner gas valve supply voltage too low to open
>pilot light gas valve voltage good
>swap pilot gas valve power supply wire with main burner gas valve power supply
>no pilot light but all other safetys still in place
>no main burner gas flow unless wand trigger held open
>okay.org
>test run it, igniter ignites the main burners gas supply with no pilot light
>cool.rar
>finish up the nigger rig
>fire up hotsy
>hear the gas start flowing
>no igniter spark heard
>fuck......
>no really, fuck
>this is not good
>about 4 seconds go by
>too far away to safely shut it off >knowing in my head whats about to happen
>hear the signature igniter relay click
>why me
>burner is now primed with a perfect charge of oxygen and natural gas
>BOOM igniter sparks, burner explodes
>sounds like a shotgun
>dazed and not confused i gather myself
>coworkers yell lol you okay
>luckily no damage was done
>everyone laughs and gives me shit about it
>they dont realize exactly how bad it could have been

Honestly, it's not as bad as it seems. You'll rarely see more than a couple of abbo families in your neighborhood, and that's if it's a low income suburb. They're a rare sight in cities, the majority of them live out in shitfuck nowhere.
