I'm back. I managed to get paid, then I managed to scrounge some stuff from the store, then my neighbor lent me this cool fine water sandpaper (in the previous part, someone said I should grind the wires slightly, then lightly burn the coating off before soldering).
I'm gonna look up a wire soldering tut on youtube. Wish me luck.

found this on yt... maybe no sandpaper will be required?

This guy does it, but he doesn't use flux.

That stuff is horrible, pro tip: don't use sandpaper on it. Get a good bead of solder going on the iron and pass the wires though it to get rid of the coating and tin at the same time, works for enamelled magnet wire too

holy fuck are we still on this? what are these solid gold or something? made from the turin shroud? owned originally by alexander the great?

>Get a good bead of solder going on the iron and pass the wires though it to get rid of the coating and tin at the same time
depending on the coating this might be hard work, some kinds of enamel dont dissolve but will be easier to pick off, just give it a wee rub with the iron tip and get some fresh solder/flux on it until it tins. emery cloth sanding makes it easier but its also real easy to sand it too much and break the wire and if its braided it will be a time sink.

>enamelled magnet wire too
so enameled wire then. nothing to do with magnets

Now this one is interesting because he uses flux, but then the comments down below kinda bash him

No money means repair the damn wire.
So... sandpaper or no sandpaper? Flux or no flux? This one doesn't have any info on it btw...

Also, I'm only 30 minutes away from my internet cutting off (have to buy shitty expensive internet bags because I live far away)

>Warning: You are using an acid flux. never ever ever ever use acid flux on electrical components. You want to use 60/40 rosin core solder, and you want to use a rosin based flux. what you are using is a flux made for copper pipes. this is acidic and will eventually destroy the wiring - fyi.

seems pretty self explanatory

most solder for electronics comes with a rosin flux core, you don't need extra flux.

you can;t solder without flux it just won't work. its magic basically.

if you bought plumbing solder and flux you are fucked.

do this, >>1547767
just keep on tinning it until it tins properly. if it takes more than 5 mins per wire try sanding first very very lightly. just a scrape.

Oh, and thank you so much for everything.

Okay.. listen OP, you do NOT use that kind of solder and flux for electronics, that looks like what you'd use to solder pipes and shit like that, I'm pretty sure it's ACID flux, it'll corrode electronics. You need ROSIN CORE SOLDER, and a much smaller gauge than what you have.
