What do you mean by 'powered'? Is the Pi gatewaying for a printer? Is it actually running the steppers and print head or laser and fuser? What kind of printer?

Sorry. I should have proof read. I want to use a pi instead of a computer to connect to a 3d printer

Yeah octopie is widely used for that, go ahead

I tried that. You must offload everything to computer, otherwise the pi will "render" page for 10 minutes. Also some hp drivers don't load the firmware automatically and it needs to be installed separately from hp website.

Jesus christ dude which one is it? Is it a 3d printer or not?

octopi makes raspberry pi act as a flash drive with wifi capabilities, in short.

Arduino + laptop appeals to me over a pi.
