How would you bois go about removing an extremely tight bolt from a rotating part? Pic related is a blender base that i wanna remove the blades from, running out of ideas to get it off.

>> No.1488294

its a left hand thread shit-dip

tried rotating it the other way, still won't budge. Any times for loosening that don't involve expensive tools or a propane torch?

>>1488282
the end of the bolt has been peened over like a rivet head. file it off and try again.

thanks, i'll try this

Why does it look like you were blending rocks?

Looks like the upper blades were wrapped in tape, presumably to make the bolt removal process nicer than it otherwise would be.

>> No.1488363

You gotta heat it up with a Bunsen burner and the take a hammer to it

This.

Hammer and a blow torch can fix anything.

Which ever way the blades spin, the nut will spin in the other direction. The blade spin ensures the nut is always tight and never loosens.

yeah, wrapped it before i tapped it. Didn't wanna cut myself since they move whenever you try undo the bolt.

>>1488417
ahh cheers for that. Will give this a go in the morning

>> No.1488846

Still no luck bois, holding the blades still while i tried to turn the bolt resulted in the blades deforming massively. This was after heating and hammering

Do you have an impact driver? Do you have a vise? I would imagine clamping the blades snuggly, but not super tight in a vice and hitting it with and impact would be the easiest way to remove the bolt. Could be reverse threaded too.

wrap one of the blades in a rag/teatowel and clamp it in a vice.

no impact driver or vice. What i did was put a spanner around the blades and wedged it against a metal railing as turned the bolt.

Isn't this where wd-40 was invented for?

Just go buy some vicegrips, it's a tool everyone should own.

WD-40 was invented to displace water and provide a water-repellant film to protect ballistic missiles from corrosion.

was using my vicegrips, still no avail. Should i use vice grips on blade, then wedge that against a railing so it can't turn while i use a spanner on the nut?
Didn't think it'd be this hard lmao.

Use the vicegrips on whatever is turning the blade. Turn them in opposite directions.

Wedge a screwdriver in between the blades that are bent down and the shaft then whack the fuck out of the top blades with a hammer counter clockwise

Put it in a vice and hit it with an impact gun. Be prepared to replace the assembly.

No. Turn the nut the same direction the blade spins to remove the nut.

the blades have flats inside to keep them from slipping on the shaft.
