Post circuit diagrams of easy and/or useful things for a hobbyist to make. Links to explanations of the diagram are welcome.

3-component boost converter. It's being used to drive an LED here, but the circuit can be used for other things with some modifications. I've seen one used to drive a fluorescent bulb off a D-cell.

making circuits using copper nails and a schematic glued to a piece of wood.

That's a pretty cool idea, actually. You could make an electronics kit for someone who doesn't know much about electronics. Easy to assemble, teaches them soldering and schematic reading all at the same time, and none of the possible confusion (for a newbie, at least) of having to flip a piece of perfboard upside down to make connections.

Print the diagram on a printer. Lay the paper on a piece of peg board or woodblock with holes drilled. Place special pegs with at each connection point. The pegs have clips/connectors so you can easily attach/remove parts.

Any newbie can print a diagram on his printer and build a circuit in under 5 minutes. It gives hole new meaning to the word "printed circuit board."

Look up the datasheet.

>> No.149622

>>149441

And look at the top of the chip once you have the datasheet. It should have a marking on end up, something like a dot, or a notch cut into it, or perhaps a corner missing. Most of the time the datasheet will show the marking, and that allows you to orient the chip to know which pins are which.

>The more you know.

-and if it's a fairly generic part like a 555 timer the pins should be the same from manufacture to manufacture.

Could be, but otherwise it's just a very basic, bare-bones Z80 based microcontroller circuit. In 32K of ROM and 32K of RAM you can do a shit-ton of stuff.
