Turning an old cook stove into a coffee bar. These springs are both broke for the heavy oven door.

After research it looks like I can order an exact copy through Alibaba if I order 10,000....

Most closest thing I've found is an old Model T starter motor brush spring.

Any ideas. Just need 2.

3" length. 1.25" wide spiral. .5" wide

I know nothing about making springs, but that geometry seems easy enough to replicate. Maybe buy some appropriate material and take a stab at making one. Cut a slot in a metal rod, insert a bar of whatever material and just wrap it around the rod, while applying heat I suppose.

theyre broke because its a shite design

why do you even need the springs

just use it without springs

How are they broken? They look fine. Soak it in vinegar (or rust doctor) and rinse it off every day until it's not rusty.

Otherwise watch this told Tony make springs on youtube

OP here.

Both springs are broke. The one pictured is busted on inside coil. And other one has mounting tab busted off.

Need springs so the 25lb door doesn't slam on the porcelain.

And it is 3" overall length. Truck hood springs way too big.

Ordered something that might work from McMaster Carr.

Just weld the fucking thing

If you’re not using the stove for heat you can use those gas filled lift springs that they use on suv tailgates.

Yes. Lets apply metal melting levels of heat to spring steel...

I dont care for how they dont give a shipping estimate before paying. But it is nice for goofy things.
