Any suggestions for getting this screw out? I've tried everything and admittedly lost my patience.

Am I going to need to get a drill bit and just punch through?

Yes, there are special bits for this. If its hardened or an alloy it will be a pain in the ass.

You can try the screw extractors

Those looks like they might work.
The screw size was 1.5 Hex wrench, smallest one I could find.

On Amazon it says the littlest one has a 3mm tip. Would that fit?

Damn that’s small. Search for “precision screw extractor” maybe. You normally put the extractors on a drill and lean into them while spinning it in reverse.

they never work

can you put the part in a drill press? a left hand bit either cranked with your hand or on really slow can make it grab and back out

They work if it’s just stripped. But also if it’s just stripped and not overtightened, you can normally lean into that bitch with a fresh phillips head and it will come out.

The issue is that most of the time the fastener gets stripped and fucked, it’s because it’s tight or seized. So if the proper bit couldn’t get the thing out without destroying it, the extractor isn’t going to do it.

makes sense

Useless junk. Just drill the fucking thing

Gonna have to tap the thing after tho, right? Also anon mentioned the drill press earlier which would definitely help so OP is only drilling out the damaged screw and nothing else.

tap or insert. hard to say without knowing exactly what it is. it's already too fucked to attempt less destructive methods

nah don't listen to them, try jamming something square or not-round into it

drill small hole in it, jam square thing in it and reverse the rotation of the drilling, try to get it to screw out that way

if that doesn't work you drill it all the way out, if you cannot precisely locate your hole then you will fuck up the threads

>> No.1457551

Slot it with a Dremel and use a regular flat head

>> No.1457768

hammer a small torx bit in there, or drill it out

or if its not important looks like side cutters could get you where you need to be

Lol, do you have a TIG setup? If so, slowly add filler metal with a fine wire to the screw head, until it rises out of the hole. Use vice grips to spin it out. Used to do this all the time on Seahawk rocket launcher in the Navy back in the Airframes shop.
