I did an oil change on a concrete fleet truck on thursday that had 300k on it. It was a bit more than in rough shape, but it was still working. 5w-30 bulk exactly at the 3k mark.

i've always heard to up to 10w40 after ~200k miles to keep compression up with worn rings, been working for me at least. i doubt a heaver weight oil is bad for the engine in any way but i'd love to see some data if anyone has any
