Here are the most satisfying tools:

A screwdriver - when you tighten a screw into plastic and you feel it get tight and stop rather than stripping

A drill - when you use digital calipers to perfectly measure the center, mark it with a punch, and see the hole came out perfectly center even though you free-handed it

A soldering iron - when you twist wires together, coat it with flux, put a drop of solder on the tip of the iron, touch it to the joint, and watch as the solder seeps into the crevaces of the wires.

A dremel - literally anything

these things are incredible. they almost always work flawlessly, from tiny wire wrap wire to 14 gauge, even with weird shielding and such.

So that’s a tool that should last some use even with a mid-low range tool? I was just at Lowe’s too, shoulda browsed. Pipe cutter is one of the things a little lower down my list.

I would probably get more use out of pic related since most of the time I’m messing with pipes, it’s the goddamn sprinklers again and that’s just little pvc. Until now I have hit it with a hacksaw but it’s annoying and the cuts aren’t as clean.

I like my rivet nut setter best in this regard. The work requires multiple steps, the feel is solid and high quality, and you can sense exactly when the nut is properly set. I alwasy love it when I get to use it occasionally. I even made a video because I like it so much:

Not to take away from OP's thread but i'm pretty sure that's the worst ratchet ever produced. I worked at a chain auto parts store and we had a tub of these things in front of the register for $1.99 - had a 24 tooth mechanism, the rubber grip could slide off easily, and it was made of cast metal (not steel) which made shearing the square 3/8" drive part clean off surprisingly easy when removing battery terminals. There was also about a 25% chance the forward/reverse selector didn't work.

Pretty sure it was held together by the chrome plating alone.

When the ratchet does nothing, the breaker bar won't fit, the nut splitter half-splits the nut but again, won't fit properly in the small space between the catalytic converter mounting stud and the frame.... this bad boy did the trick. The nut splitter probably loosened it some, but of course it was somewhat mangled by then and no socket would fit, so it took this bad boy with a pointy chisel, hammering away and spinning/mangling the nut 1/6 turn at a time, to finally loosen it.

I believe that some stuff comes from the same factories in Asia, and those Doyle pliers look good for the money and would sell for twice as much at Home Depot with a different name on them, but I do not believe that his 8 year old MAC pliers and the brand new Doyle pliers are the same thing.

I think there’s a use for it but the prices are outrageous. They will let you buy shit on credit which is cool I guess. It all depends how much your time is worth. For dudes who make a living with those tools, the peace of mind and convenience might be worth paying tool truck prices (on certain stuff) but there’s a lot of young mechanics going into debt so they can keep up with the other guys in the shop and have the best Snap-On box and that’s retarded.

Hate these things. I had to rent one to cut a slot in a concrete driveway. Every other saw I've ever used rotates away from me. From a worm drive 7-1/4 circular saw to 16-1/2 inch beam saw. So the blade cuts coming up out of the work, pulling the saw down, and the waste is thrown away from me.

This thing cuts the other way around. So it tries to lift itself out of the cut and sprays crap all over me.

you're not meant to be in the path of a circular saw. you're meant to stand to the side of it. like, so when the blade or a tooth detaches it fires in a path that you are not in.

I have a used round head 1-1/2" ratchet that i got with a set of tractor hub sockets for $30. now i can remove any hub nut. i use it like a breaker bar its so long. its like 700mm long its even more rigid than any breaker bar you can buy. so yeah, round head ratchets are nice.
