I used to be pretty autistic about the clothes I would wear (I still am to an extent but with more normal clothes). and I used to just go everywhere wearing these chainsaw bibs like in pic related. I made sure to let everyone know that they were chainsaw bibs made for the use of a chainsaw, too because I didn't want any confusion

Anyway, I was doing this whilst working in a warehouse, and I got bullied by my coworkers. They kept calling me by the names of various cities, towns and settlements in Texas (because of chainsaw massacre) which started as just 'Dallas' and 'Houston' which was OK, but when they got bored and started researching the random town names they'd start calling me things like 'Whiteface', 'Post Oak Bend City', and 'Stagecoach'. The long ones really pissed me of for some reason and they really liked how mad I got.

Anyway, what I would confess is that I almost killed myself because of this. It was after an especially bad day where they kept calling me 'Buffalo Gap' and making buffalo noises, I tried to drown myself in the bath and ended up just making myself sick and nauseous. I still get really annoyed at my overreaction to it.

Those guys on al/ck/ are on a different spectrum.

I have been drinking consistently for 14 years aside from a few months on a pair of occasions when I tried to stop and odd times when I am just too busy to drink.

The two times I tried to quit I ended up depressed and in counselling for nearly half a year (on and off because often I just couldn't roll out of bed) both times loosing jobs, friends, girl friends and was back to wondering what the point of breathing was and considering ways to end it all. Went back to drinking and rebuilt my life, twice.

The first time I tried sobering up and lost my job I gained some momentum to get to the airforce recruitment and they were ready to take me on for Avionics but I failed the psyche. Started drinking got a job in heavy equipment hydraulics, stopped drinking, got fired for no shows a couple months after. Started drinking again. Now running my own generator dealership.

Not risking that to sobriety.

They say HF is starting to try with their new Hercules line, but the prices are near what the real brands cost on sale anyway. And their Bauer stuff is supposed to be not terrible. I don’t own any of it, but I did use a cheap Black & Decker for years and it was fine for little stuff around the house.

The biggest reason for spending money on the big brands isn’t necessarily because they work better than HF, but because you want that long warranty when you depend on it daily to make a living.

Nothing wrong with the interior stuff for outdoors, it just is not done often since good clear cedar is cheaper then red oak and requires less maintenance and pressure treated is cheaper then poplar and may outlast the poplar even if completely neglected.

I don't believe anyone has every used scissor jacks like that. Even on a perfectly flat concrete surface it would fail at some point because the car does not go up in a straight line.

My first car was small and had a replacement jack of the scissor type and it would topple over with regularity when I had to use it out on the road.

All of their tools are Chinese made “Store Brand” stuff.

It’s hit or miss. You have to read reviews and use common sense. There’s a lot of HF tools on job sites that will last for years and years. None of it is as good as Proto or SK or that Czech company this board faps to, but it’s 10% the price. But a lot of it is just as good as Husky or Kobalt for half the price.

There’s nothing even close to affordable that isn’t made in Asia anymore so I don’t blame people for shopping at HF so long as they don’t expect too much from it.
