Hey fellas
Got kind of a weird project. I'm thinking of doing some exterior lighting on my car. Kinda like what truckers have, only instead of the track lights being visible, they'd run along the underside, giving an orangish glow to the pavement. I was thinking of using this outdoor led strip I got from costco, pic related. What are your thoughts, /diy/?

Check its voltage. A lot of those strips series all the leds so you need 120v rms to light them. Not a problem if you have a small inverter.

You fuck off with your laws. OP didn't say anything about turning it on while driving. I connected LED strips powered by the dome light, so it only turns on when you open the door.

Check it's voltage. I would recommed 12V LEDs, so you can hook it up to your battery (or parallel to your dome light like I did)

Don't listen to the haters op. What you need is to get on amaxon or wherever and buy Alpena (MAX) led strips. Not sure if they have 36" but i stuck about $500 worth in my bike. Mutherfucker looks like it is on fire in the pics i dont have on me.

Its a little pricy, but you cannot beat the light they put out man.

If you dont believe me buy 1 pair and try it out under the front or back or wheel wells. I am gluing some inside my wheels. Hide lithium packs and some sort of motion charger to keep them up. Wireless on/off. Should be fuckin sick.

And yeah. 90% of places it's illegal. Especially if you go with blue or red. They really get pissy there.

But nobody is stopping you from kicking them on in a parking lot. Coyld run a 12v SLA in yiur trunk that charges when the car is on and cuts the car wiring off when the car is shut off. Glow lile the sun all night in the driveway
