Well /diy/ found myself this little guy. How hard would it be to get it working again?

what do you know about electronics? what tools do you have?

a set of precision screwdrivers and a good disposition.
Not much to be honest, but I wouldn't mind learning a bit.

depends whats wrong with it, you any good at fault diagnosis?

Yes, no dice. Owner said it just popped one day.

>it just popped
If it made noise, then there's almost certainly a burned-looking component somewhere. If you're lucky, it is just a fuse.

>> No.1370959

If it made a sound when it died it's 100% the output stage fets and they always take other components with them. The _very best_ thing you could find it the service manual for it. It will have schematics and a troubleshooting guide that will not only hold your had diagnosing it but will tell you everything else that needs replaced when you find the fault.

Without the manual you'd need an oscilloscope and probably 100x more time. I'd start with removing all the output fets, swapping fuses and powering it up. If it blows the fuse I'd move back to the second stage amplification/filtering and remove the bjts and try again. Eventually it'll power on and you can send it a test signal and probe to see if its getting distorted in the preamp/filtering stage. If the signal is good start putting the first stage amp, retest, then final amp, test test test, enjoy.

if not, it's one of those expensive ass monolithic hybrid ic amplifiers bolted to those heatsinks

honestly if you dont know how to test components, how to solder, dont have the proper tools and test instruments, you are just wasting your time. toss that shit back into the trash where it belongs

1 - When u try to turn on, the green led turn on (or another light)?

If no, test the Power cable, Fuse, Power Button.
** use a multimeter, to se if the power reach on that itens!

If yes, se if the audio input change something on "power indicator"... if yes but with no sound, probably is the output. Could be AMP, Fuse, or resistor or a track broken.

But no, need to see the input, if had some broken cable or corrode the input.

If u know how, install a Raspberry and put a large SD and make a stereo system that u can put music or listen music from internet. Aiwa is a good system

Place a 100 watt incandescent light globe in place of F1. Globe should not light up bright.

Turn it on.

Measure voltage on L1 and L2. Should be near zero.

Have you measured those voltages yet OP? My bet is full rail voltage out of one STK. Measure at L1 and L2 or test point 1 & 2.

Does anon know a page to look for service manuals?

There are things an image board/forum can walk you through and then there are things that require a boat load of background knowledge just to get a basic understanding of what's going on.

This is one of the latter.

OP to repair this thing you need a lot more than screwdrivers and you need to learn a shitload about electronics.

Look for blown capacitors on the power-supply sub-circuit. This is a logical place to start if it does not turn on and 'popped' one day. The popping sound is typically an electrolytic capacitor blowing out (accompanied by mystic smoke).
