Roofer here, I specialise in sheet metal roofs and looking for a new tool belt to replace my current pic related Buckaroo leather apron toolbelt since the pockets are a bit tight and not very easy to retrieve fasteners or tools out of. I've got my eyes set on a Occidental Leather Stronghold Big Oxy or one of their one piece leather carpenter belts but they're very expensive. What are /diy/ suggestions?

In the meantime I've stuffed the main pockets full of tubes of silicone to get them to expand out a bit

>> No.1252276

If you like the bag and just want to stretch the pockets you can fill them with dry rice and add water to stretch them.

interesting
will the water have any adverse effects on the leathe?

You will want to dry it well when done but it shouldn't worry the leather if it's just overnight. I have used this trick to stretch leather boots and it worked fine.

i might give it a go when i get the bag out of my work mate's van

Yeah go Tarus Super Yankee you'll notice on sites it's what most carpenters in NZ wear.

Why are you doing pretrade may I ask? I mean it'd be interesting anyway but why not just rock up to a building company get hired work as a laborer/hammerhand for a year to proove yourself and then get put on a bcito apprenticeship.

That's the route I went.. and man there's a lot said about learning on the job. And I know sometimes having someone who's done pretrade is offputting to HR guys in the industry.

You had best wear your ppe anon. Biggest mistake i ever made was not having fall protection 8 feet up

Why don't you use modular systems? All roof workers I know use things like that. I've used it few times (I am a service engineer), quite helpful.

Mcrose. Cheaper than occidental and they do custom work, so you can get exactly the belt you want. Took me about 3 weeks after first emailing them but I got my custom belt last friday and wore it to work the first time today. I love it. Pictured on bottom.

Looks like a little kid's toolbelt. Might cut it for for trim carpentry but you'd get laughed off a framing crew. If you're just starting out in the trade I'd recommend a regular apron like in the OP or the top of my pic. Worn through a few of them over the years and they get the job done.

I tried out some atlas 46 bags awhile back and they were pretty nice albeit a bit wide for my tastes. My current set up is the fastener bag from a AWP bag set and some cheap 15$ shit bag.

>>1253718
How much does it cost to get custom bags from them? Because I'm pretty close to just making my own at this point.

Well I would definitely take that belt over the one you previously posted. I'm sure you can find better options online though.

Here's the website.

https://www.mcrosetoolbelts.com/

I had four tool slots added and switched the side of the tape on his leather belt and he didn't charge me any more than the list price.

Framing Carpenter

CLC Leather and Husky pouch from an earlier set.

Would not recommend CLC as the rivets they use are shit.

Hello. I also searching for new modern tool belt. What are you using nowadays guys?

>> No.1255051,2 [INTERNAL]

Hello. It depends on what exactly do you need. Try to visit some store with such tools and choose the most suitable option for your work. There are not so many good variants.
