/diy/ I've never used a socket wrench before in this manner. How do I secure this nut and bolt in when there's nothing to keep the bolt from moving?

I hope you're sitting, this is going to be riveting.

A second wrench of the same size.

I've always wondered the same thing and I've been wrenching for years. Why would you need two wrenches for one bolt?

Most of the automotive repair I've seen either has the other part welded, restrained, or the threads are machined into the engine block or whatever.

2 wrenches? I only have one. I may as well have none at this point.

you could go crazy and use pliers on the nut

Sorry, welcome to real life. Vehicles are the most engineered piece of equipment the lay man runs into.

I suppose you don't "need" two for one bolt, you just look like an idiot asking if you don't want to just do the obvious solution.

Are you high on opiates or something, what's wrong with you?

That would ruin it. Just weld some bar stock to it.

That's not a rivet mate, it's a bolt.

Not everyone has been wrenching since they were 5.

That's obviously a metric nail with twin heads, what op wants is a cold chisel and a club hammer.
