I have heard of some lucid dreaming methods based around a simple kit or project with lights. Something as simple as a timer-delayed softly flashing light might work, as long as it is not quite enough to wake you.

IIRC the flashing light is still perceived and ends up being worked into your current dream. So your sleeping-self can realize "Oh, this is a dream!" and is free to become supergirl or go on adventures.

I just found this on google. I skimmed through it and it seems to be the kind of things that are generally posted about it. Note: I've never tried any of these, so I have no clue if they actually work or not
