>Job interview for a Trainee CAD Technician for Structural engineering

I have a few mechanical engineering designs that I did at my last job. Should I take them to show them, or does it breach some type of confidentiality agreement?

I don't want them to think I'm not trust worthy by showing them designs from another (albeit unrelated) company.

Also, what should I research before going to see them?

Structural engineer here.

If you don't know how to use revit....Good luck buddy. Also, the best structural technicians actually know something about building structures.

Scrub the names of my designs.

A structural engineering company dgaf about selling mechanical shit anyway.

How long does revit take to learn?
I'm comfortable solid modelling and using autocad, but I haven't used revit.

its all the same shit really. learning CAD is like learning programming. once you get the first one down, the others are trivially easy to pick up.

Revit is quite difficult to use at first, I recommend one to five years of experience in autocad before jumping to revit. It is just not as user friendly as AutoCAD. BTW, just write a note on the papers disclaiming them as construction papers and make them not to scale.

why? revit drawing everything for me seems rather easy and quick

Do you mean don't design things to scale? If so, why?

Also I would be using Autodesk Civils 3D, rather than Autodesk Revit

what?
Revit is easier to young people because everything is a 3d model with text sprinkled in the sheets.
In fact is WAY easier.
Im guessing you are old as shit.

He said it's a trainee position you stupid cunt, they're not gonna be looking for the best structural technicians

make sure you understand xrefs and possibly sheet set manager.

Its easier to get started with, but there is a lot of complexity. Types, making parametric models which work , scheduling properly ect. I'm not saying that any of it is particular difficult to learn, but there is lot of it and it take a while to learn.

That being said i had to teach this older woman how to use revit once and she just didn't understand it. Was fired because she was such an idiot.
