What are your guys take on desklamps?
Personally I think there's a lot that look nice, but as for the actual lighting I feel like i'm in a fucking interrogation. I'm trying to find a table lamp that will fit on my desk just so I can get a more relaxed work environment.
I'm just curious, am I the only one who feels this way?

You should lurk a bit before posting, this isn't >>>/pol/ or >>>/b/
As for lamps, I frankly don't care, so long as it's got a gooseneck. Ikea's Jansjo lamps are amazing once the led is switched over to neutral white/cool white. Pic related, although for whatever reason right looks far more blue than it really is, and left looks far less piss colored than it really is.

Banker's lamp, warm light. Personal fav.

yeah that's the interrogation shit I can't fuck with
I literally wish I could just flip a switch in my brain (heh heh like a light switch) and be comfortable with a lamp like that like you. Finding a lamp that fits my specificities is a chore.

>>1149988
I don't know what the lighting is like on them but I personally can't stand vintage shit
reminds me of old people's homes
to each their own

a friend of mine owned a desk lamp once. i think it caught fire and caused him a headache in damages. also at one time the nazis favored desk lamps for illuminating their paperwork so there is that. i prefer recessed ceiling lighting with a bulbs in the 5000k color temp range. deviate at your own peril.

I don't know much about ceiling lighting. Maybe there's a way to make it nice and warm but i don't have the knowledge or funds to do so. As tedious as finding a lampshade lamp that will fit on my tiny ass desk is I'm sure it'll be simpler for me than to get a new ceiling lamp.

I've always preferred the living-room kind of light with a lampshade. Don't like spotlights.

I don't know what a living room kind of light means but i feel like that's probably exactly the way i feel. what do you do for a desklamp dude

well what is the problem exactly
if the light is too bright then put in a lower energy lamp or try to change the colour temperature.
if the light is getting you directly from the lamp then get a longer shade or shorter lamp. cfl lamps are often longer and therefore annoying.
if you are surprised that a small spot of light in a dark room seems bright then return the lamp and tell them you are too fucking stupid to own one. use other lighting to increase the background levels to allow your eyes to adjust instead of straining their range to its limit.

i don't like the "feel" of it
I want something that gives a warm light to the whole room, a spotlight that focuses on just the desk and leaves the rest of the room dark feels so tense.
more tense = more stress
more stress = less work done

>i want a desk lamp that is a table lamp

>i want the whole room to be lit, not just the desk
>i get so tense

ffs, take it back a few pegs and think.
Get one of those tall free-standing lamps that has multiple adjustable heads and an area light.
Experiment with intensities and temps of lights, pointing in various directions, until you stop feeling so stressed.

>tldr; for a lit up room, light the room

it needs to be a desklamp or at least a lamp on my desk because i turn the light on and off a lot
also I don't even have the space for a standing lamp. very small room

Ikea Gooseneck. There is nothing in the base, so you can take it off and bolt it directly to your desk, wasting no more surface area than a quarter.

IKEA TERTIA

I have two of these bolted to my desk. One has a warm LED, the other a white LED. Both have dimmers on them. The range of the arms is huge and gives great diffused lighting.

At night, I flip the lamp upside down for nice low level diffused light in the room.

They are also good as cheapo photography lamps.

that doesn't help me dude
I can find plenty of lamps that fit on my desk
it's finding a lamp that fits on my desk and has the desired lighting that's the problem

>>1150158
i might check it out
i'm currently doing the upside down thing with a similar lamp and it's just not that cozy. but maybe i just have a shitty lamp

>> No.1150162

It really depends on the reflector size and shape as well as the bulb temperature.

That IKEA lamps has a very large reflector which helps make the light really even when turned upside down. I use a 1000 lumen 2700 K LED bulbd from ikea with it. Even with the dimmer on the lowest setting, it perfectly lights up my 12ftx12ft room.
