Depends on the quality of your water. You want a filter that can remove particles and pharmaceuticals. There is a lot of estrogen in the water from birth control pills and there is also a lot of heart medication in the water.

For your kitchen facet, you could use a Woder filter to remove some of the shit but if you want good drinking water try a Berkey. A lot of folks swear by them.

The water filters in my plant are 2x3 ton activated charcoal filters, followed by an RO system (surprisingly small system for the size of our charcoal filters and DI system) followed by a giant DI polisher system (which DI systems technically don't use filters so that's a different story) then on our chrome hardening system we have additionally polisher bottles that bring our water down to about 0.005 microSiemens


So probably something like that would be a fairly good system.

I imagine larger factories would require bigger systems, but while we are one of the largest automotive factories in the United States, our company has much larger factories in Germany.


Also we are automotive and I assume other higher precision factories require more clean water (specifically in the silicon chip and Li battery factories)

I mean our system can only handle about 6000GPM

Most Municipal water is recycled at a sewage plant. Your shit and piss water are processed and the water is sent through a purification process with all the waste sent to an incinerator or local dump.

Engineer and PM for general contractor who builds water and wastewater plants. If I had a nickel for every dead fish, drowned animal, sludge spill and chemical spill I've seen go directly out the effluent side of the final filter before it hits public distribution then I wouldn't have to work as a PM ever again.

I build those plants that clean your water. I still use a water filter.
