making sure this ENcODER wiring went smoothly,

watched half the season of attack on titan (jap dubs becos im a faget), while tinning, crimping, labeling and contintUNITY testing, basically all the cable shit so its nice

Soldered that fucker on and just finished recrimping the cable on the robot end to a faggot molex because i didnt wanna buy special (basically the exact fucking same as .062 molex but SLIGHTLY different) crimp terminals(some ampphenol bullshit), but i think i should have because molex sucks.

gonna smoke weed and turn this fucker on now
if it works, ill be robofucking in no time
if it doesnt work, i am so fucked and im gonna have to find a replacement, either replacement encoder (12bit absolute with some kind of serial module) or a replacement servo to get the encoder. thats gonna be $1xxx

this is my setup for replacing encoder wire, there are 2 ribbon cables on it that limit the space i had to solder, because if i fuck the ribbons then im fucked for sure. I cannot remove it from the robot, and only barely from the other board. basically robot sergery, there was this fucking epoxy that i had to scrape off before i could get at the back side,

If it doesnt work i can also hook up the encoder to a computer(some how)using (computer hacking) to see microchip talk from the encoder, it will be sending out alarms on these serial channels. they are not used(or connected) to the robot, but they are used in CNC applications and its all documented in the manuals i have for the servo pack

so today i hit every thing with contact cleaner, reinserted the board, re-initalizied the board and booted it back up.
nothing still ok
so i check the manuals, i found out my servos do have a 7segnment LED display hidden, so imma check the codes on that.

since its probably not the encoder wiring anymore. i still have to check by direct connecting the encoder right to the servo pack and bypassing all the robot internal wires by making a custom HONDA cable bullshit .

Since its probably not robot wiring, the second thing the manual suggests is replace the motion control board robot side.
when i say the manual suggests, ive made my own diagnostics tree based on the manual, but in order of easiest/cheapest first

so im going to buy another board off ebay since it will be cheapest. when i have another board I will take apart the original board and see if anything stands out.
to replace the servo rack or the encoder is going to be a shit ton of money so thats last resort.

when i had the board out, it looks like where the boards breakout the encoder cables, the 152 1.5k resistors ,on all the encoder channels i can see, have been blown.
I think they have been repaired before though because if they were still blown all my encoders would be fucked and not just 1.
I also say that because there are no cracks i can see under 17x eye loop, and the solder on these resistors only, have a more goldish colour tin oxide look.
when i have a replacement i will look at the older board and see.

The simplest sysem works by haveing a pressure vessel filled with fluid and put some commpresed air into it to push the fluid out.

found the manual for my SERVO driver and motor/encoder

SO! today and tomorrow is fucking robot surgery.
I need to decide if i want to take the whole motor off of just the encoder. I think id rather do the encoder even though that motor makes crazy noize and probably will need a rebuild in the future. My boss at work said take off the encoder and we will see if we can fix it. one of the 6 encoder lines is fucking up.
if we cant fix it, my boss said send it out for a replacement and use trhis as a core. the guy who has my replacement wants like $600ish for a core swap out.

I want to try to adjust the voltage before i send it out. it said in the manual i could do that.

this encoder ovbi has to be super complicated
12bit differential encoder with some kind of on board serial connection (not hooked up to robot) that outputs alarms and decides stuff through auto tests at boot. It has 6 channels a, a-,b,b-,z,z- absolute 1024 things i think

Im almost 100% is in the encoder it self judging by the way i swapped all the wires and shit it has to be something in this encoder/wiring. I have a 1 channel SCOPE. If i analyze all 6 encoder channels one at a time, will i be able to see whats putting out a fucked signal?

TOP TIER TROUBLE SHOOTING TACTICS
-spray isopropl on the encoder wheel in case its just dirty
-add ferrites to my encoder wire at both ends
-DONT CROSS THE STREAMS

i turned it on after that, and it booted right up with no errors except a battery error. when i replaced the encoder battery the first time i used a cellphone battery so i can probably just charge it back up or something.

(pic) I had moved all the main robot cables in a nice hidden pile so my dad wouldnt trip using the grinder. but all the wires were touching like the 2 main feeds the POWER cable and the SIGNAL cable , like wrapped around each other. i isolated them into 2 separate piles making sure they do not touch balls. my dad can shut up if he cant get to the grinder.

this is the new farrite im too fucking high to try and move the robot tonight, but i have a good feelings about this

Look dipshit, there are different types of ferrite cores. Choke cores don't work this way. And the reason making a loop through a transformer and shorting it kills the transformer is because you're just adding another winding then shorting it out. That would only happen if you wrapped it around ten times then wrapped another wire around it but still probably not because those are signal wires not high inductance wires.

you know exactly where the problem is located, its in the fucking encoder it self. you isolated that issue from the start.
the fact that when i swap the encoder cable(at robot) to another encoder axis, and the problem shifts to what ever axis has the bad encoder, means its the encoder.

jiggling the cables was not the be all fix.

I am now pretty sure it has to do with the encoder wheel but probably the emitter/collector.

when i spray the encoder down with 99.8% isop, i no longer get a startup error. I can run the robot is all axis. when the movement starts to get to much like a little bit, the encoder THEN faults out and the servos turn off and the robot goes into alarm.

sooooooo, it worked once i figure if i sprayed it down a ton it will work for ever.

i should have waited like...more than 30seconds after turning it off, before spraying it down a ton.

SO i think somewhere out of the 6 emitters/collectors, i think one of them has probably oxidized on the surface and it not emitting or collecting properly

I should have also waited longer before turning it on and testing it. next time ill wait until all the ISOPROPLY is evaporated (evaperated iso also leaves a residue so idk)

Ok, robot is moving with out any alarms. I will do more tests tomorrow, but i think its back to business as usual. how did i fix?

(pic related) this is the backside of my encoder. I had it apart trying to find a part number so i could buy a replacement one.
I noticed the encoder bushing/bearing has some kind of ferrite/carbon/magnetic disk on the moving wheel like it does on the outside of the encoder like this

on the encoder bearing thing, it has that but with a notch in it.
my encoder has 6 channels, i can see the a, a- and b,b- phases on the optical encoder disk
but i did not see a ring for the index channels of the encoder, which are z,z-. i can see the LED on the encoder light up after a full rotation if its slow enough.
i put the encoder back together
it alarms up first thing.
i adjust the top board of the encoder a little
it moves a little and then alarms
I move the top board a little more
and fuck yeah she moves.
i moved that joint up and down for an hour at all speeds

my logic behind this is the z axis channel was fucking up because of the alignment of the mag sensor (IM ASSUMMING THE COMPONENT *SONY 111 511* is some kind of mag sensor but i could not find any datasheet) and thats why the board was glued in place. i think...

also I found out how to use the diagnostic menu after a major fault, so i started watching the servo reading.
when ever the servo faulted, that motor would have the highest torque reading and then fault out. that servo should have the second highest torque reading, but it was 3-4 times the normal torque reading, and twice as high as the motor with the high torque reading.
so, basically, encoder,magnets,torque, jiggling

when ever im fucking with robot positions, i always make a copy (take a pic of the cordinates with my phone) to reference when i fuck up positions and make it worse. I usually fix the fuck ups from when the shift technicians/supervisors make changes. sometimes i make the robot positions worse, so i go back to my reference and change everything back and start over. I do the same thing when i get the robot moving to the perfect position, I record the position. then when some night shift jackoff sees i made a change, they will change it again. when they do, i just change it back, and fix the problem (never robot, always an automation problem.


but, ive never been so fucking scared to move my robot before tonight. after the arm fell when i was fucking with it last week, i have a new found disrespect for the robot. and it makes me want to fuck it harder (like in a forceful way)
