plumber anon I got a question.
How do you feel about electric tankless water heaters? Also would a water manifold be a good thing to install at the same time?
That gray pipe, its not PVC but I guess has a tendency to leak...any advice? I was going to replace with Pex when I do my remodel.

Use wirisbro pipeing if you want to go plastic, the fittings havea bigger inside diameter and is a reliable product. Tankless heaters are the way to go if you can afford a good one.
I don't see much sence on making up a manifold unless you have a really big house.

However, if it doesnt pass code any gas fitter can shut it down and make them repair it to code. In Ontario, type BH vented appliances must be System 636 pipe installed with the approved cleaner and adhesive.

you should go get a gas license. G3 level you can do at home and at least then you can red tag things

Got a thermal camera for virtually nothing, but all the batteries were worn out, and it's so old they hardly make batteries like this anymore.
So, I gutted the dead-est one and threw in a buck-boost DC/DC converter, barrel jack, and output. Everything inside is held tightly in place with moldable plastic. The hole on the back goes to the voltage adjustmet pot on the regulator, so I can adjust the voltage.
Since the PDA attachment doesn't work due to no software, and the eyepiece is black and white, I got a cheapo car back-up camera monitor, which is powered by the output. I didn't bother to try to make it pretty, and it's just held together with tape for now so I can easily cut it open again, but it works perfectly. It's such a common size of jack that I can power it with pretty much any random adapter between 3 and 35 volts (although at 3v it would take quite a large amount of current to spin up the camera's filter wheel...). I even have a cigarette lighter plug that will fit.

Serious underfill and undercut! I can see that you have adequate fusion but the weld is concave and you have eaten away at the base material at both edges without replacing it with filler. Your tight woven lead in, which is almost to the very right of the picture is FABULOUS! However, as you move left, your weave opens up and turns to shit... I'm guessing as you didn't control the heat well enough or were not applying adequate or any filler material. Your first 2 weave steps have the correct spacing for your heat and filler application... the rest are shit I can tell this because I can see the scratches the Alumina cup makes on the parent material..... And so can your customer.

This is probably more /o/ related, but I'm fairly proud of this build. Roommate bought the car, wanted to do a few upgrades, and gave me almost total creative control over the build, as long as it was within his budget.
The only work that was outsourced was having the cylinder head resurfaced. Everything else was done in my garage, using my own equipment and some tools I had to build/modify. Still needs a little work to be complete, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Well. Ebay would be the best choice. Would you want to build your own or just buy a complete one?. Also are you from EU or...? I use the in-14 nixie tubes. I got 6 for 26,50 Euro. I think that price is reasonable since someone had to gather old clocks, dissemble them and text the tubes (it will take some time to do). Price i mentioned is with shipping.
Remember nixies are not just cheap digital displays, though they might be old they still work and look great!

The boxes are from a local enclosure manufacturer, I replaced the carry handles with brass nuts.
The amplifier is built from scratch (not my design though)
The CD player is a computer cd-rom (ide) with a controller from ebay to give you control over the ide channel for playback. I tried two iterations of cdrom controllers that were published on diyaudio, however both were in experimental stages, were two layer boards ==> a bitch to make and troubleshoot and lastly, inconsistent in their performance. So I got that part premade, from a chinese seller and swapped the lcd for one that I liked.
The DAC (the third box with only a power button on it) is made from scratch by me, the schematic came from elliot sound products (sound.westhost.com)

Hmm from an american point of view this might be true. For a scandinivian like me it is in fact almost the opposite. I have a high income, but pay more for many products (compared to murrica). As an example computer parts are (what I consider) dirt cheap in murrica compared to our prices (importing is not an option considered insane import taxes).
And as far as I know you will have to import from Europe, right? If so I can imagine the price is a bit higher.

It was similar in Wales in the 80s. I got a bollocking for leaving my nan's one on and the electric meter (that took 50p pieces) kept running out super quick.

There was also one of those Rediffusion switcher systems there.

Ebay is choke full of them from chinese sellers. In other colours as well. You just have to be careful and read the listing because there are latching and momentary types.
search for "metal button led (color)" and amongst the first results you should see the ones you want.
