Just moved and having issues with storage in my new apartment.

The apartment is one floor, 1,000 sq. ft.

I'm definitely no good at floor plans, but I wanted to get something visual (pic related, its awful I'm sure)

I really just want to be able to do something about getting some extra storage. Mostly, I'd like to do something with the space given by the bay windows that jut out, and maybe get something for storage in the 2 bedrooms. The kitchen is incredibly small, and I already built a 4 tier shelf to house our toaster oven, microwave, slowcooker, and tupperware. There is also a very small pantry closet in the kitchen, which I have a small shelf in. If I were able to hang something on the back of the door, I could store things to hang above it when closed? If anyone has any ideas for that, I would appreciate it.

I could possibly take pics and put them on here if anyone would need them, but I'm really just looking for some cheap storage solutions. Me and my girlfriend are new teachers, and don't have a lot of money. I'm not very creative, but I'm not an idiot, so if I had a plan or some ideas...I can implement it. Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's messy, we're still in the process of getting settled in, and having to make the 500 mile trip back home for thanksgiving in 3 days.

Bump for help. Doesn't have to be particular to my situation, just cheap storage general I guess.

open shelves made of one by dimensional wood. or get a lot of milk crates and zip tie them together to make cubby wall.

eh, I'm not that cheap. It has to look presentable. I mean, I don't want my girlfriend's parents coming to visit and be like "wtf"

I have lots of creativity, but I never give a crap anyways so I never use it. An awesome idea I hould suggest is using wooden crates of some sort and recycle them till they look awesome. I have seen a company use palls (picture reference) steal some and be creatve! Spraypaint white (or whatever colour that fits your interiour.) Make awesome lamps by finding wasted pc screens, take out the shit inside and get some sort of cheap fitting lamp inside. I havent tried it myself. But the only thing stopping you from having awesome interiour is your own laziness and creativity.

I have seen people using skateboards for chairs, I ahve seen tables being put together by some shitty wooden crates glued together, putting parquette on top and it was awesome!

Find some tree you think is pretty, saw it down. Measure up so that it is space enough to put things in, glue parquette planks in between. Find some fitting glass doors and jam them in in front and you have awesome shelves beneath the windows! Use carpets for curtains, or whatever you find awesome.

I will dump pictures from my own shitty one room apartment. I havent got time to make creative shit at the moment due to lack of time and tools. (Studying) But I have made some adjustments fitting for my own. ;)

Window is to the left, the refridgerator is to the right. Desk is right next to bed, with my tiny fucking "battlestation" and espresso maker with some shitty ipod speaker next to it.

Took off the doors of the closet as this makes the room warmer in my opinion, instead of just shitty grey. All my clothes is here. Also my bread, booze and plates is located here. The yellow shit you see beneath my jackets is my vacuum cleaner.

took the pictures clockwise, this makes the orientation better. Here you can see the shelves with the tv, books and stuff. The table behind the door is actually meant to be next to the bed, but since the "battlestation" is there and I have lots of draws there it seemed unnescessary. Have taken a better pic of my tv and stuff that is coming later.

The window, a chair and the footend of my bed. Beneath the end of bed is my trashcan and my dirty clothes sack. As it is good to just take of my clothes when going to bed and just throw them in there. (practical as shit) Also the oven is placed there making my toes warm and stuff. Nice eh? Didnt give a crap about the curtains though, mightbe I´ll go to the store and buy some stuff ;)

Tv shelf behind the table with books and stuff that is easily accessible ;) Ps2 and wii, I don´t play on console so I just have them in there for the esthetics.

I know I havent been as creative as I could have been, but this is just to show you what I have done with 12 m2 space. It turned out pretty damn well at my opinion.

Bay window, build a window seat with storage. Either with shelfing, or the chest style that you lift the top on.

This thread is really making me interested in getting involved in some of these little projects. I'm in an apartment right now with a bunch of messy, man-child roommate fuckwads atm, but when I move out I'd love to try some of these storage methods out.

Bump for more cool room ideas.
