Sup, /diy/.
Anybody ever make and diy cichlid caves?
It's outrageous prices to buy large ones.
Anyway, I have 1 convict, one oscar, 2 parrots, and one fire mouth. 125 gallon tank.

I've seen people make arches stacking rocks and then drilling through them and either sticking plastic rods or pvc through it.
I've also seen plexiglass, bend it into a U and then attach sand/rocks/shit using safe silicone.

That's a good idea. Any good way to bend plexiglass? or just bend it and put it in and let the tank keep it in place?

It bends with heat and you leave it in a jig. It is real easy to do with a heatgun but I've done some small pieces after sticking them in boiling water.

A hot air gun (or a hair dryer and patience)will soften it up if you want to freehand it. If you want to vacuform it you can heat it in your oven. For straight bends you can use nichrome wire stretched inside a piece of U-channel as a heating element.

Pic related was my first attempt at making a water deflector from plexiglass. Ignoring the pathetically sad plastic weld, I'm happy with how it turned out. I used a harbor freight "Plastic welder". This turns out to be a hot air gun with a pencil-sized tip. (impulse purchase)

For future reference, plexiglass can be chemically welded with much ease (so solvent)
