That should read made.

Anyway as far as compromises go, now there is a CRT as the screen and I had to replan the control deck.

The shelf inside had to be modified to fit the TV, but now its snug as.

Gonna wire the IR reciever of the TV to the gpio of the raspi and use a startup shell script to navigate to the right channel.

I hope that CRT has some ventilation.

Soon it will~

You should totally build one! It's a lot easier than I thought, though there are things I'd do differently if I hadn't already got this far.

Did you use an existing template or make it up yourself?

I'm looking into making one myself with an old beat up pc, rewired xbox controller and reclaimed laptop screen.

Anything I should know before starting out?

Wow that's some nice tube you've got here!

Use plywood and plan THOROUGHLY.

That said, I've just been winging it and its going ok.

Having a bit of troubles configuring the controls just right but I think all I need to do is reimage the SD.

And also, it's going to cost more than you think but I'd say thats standard for diy stuff.

Another mistake I made that took me a while to figure out was the stick triggers the opposite switch. The bottom switch is up and the top is down.

This is actually a pretty great project.

It needs more love to make it not look ... hideous, but I imagine that's an eventual intention for you.

This might even be something I'll try at some point. It certainly aligns with my interests.
