Can we do medieval arms and armour on /diy/?

>> No.416147

What ever.

I'm making a buckler out of 14 gauge galvanized steel. Who's done something like this before?

>> No.416166

Sounds like a cool project. Do you have a picture of exactly what your going for?

Something like this, but not as ornate.

I've seen it discussed.
/k/ has a major hardon for that, I see medieval threads at least every other day, though not much in the way of /diy/ing things.

Check out the patterns here: http://www.armourarchive.org/

everything one can ask for!

>> No.416183

I can and do ask for much more personally. (not OP)

3) Roll the edge of the buckler all the way around.
4) Dish the center area of the buckler.
5) Make the handle and rivet it to the buckler.

Does this seem like everything I could ask for?

The heat treatment seems dubious to me also.

>> No.416184

Why solid steel OP?

>> No.416189

what do you do with these things after you have made them?

re-enactments?

not being an ass, but when i watch a documentary with the guys killing each other, i hate it.

show why they die for some moron. show what they did the day before. did they hug a child. did they have a good meal. did they sleep in a warm bed.

notice that the only positive aspects of this post are things women provide.

god i hate guys.

Very nice. What plastic did you start with and how did you shape it?

Also question on a project of my own. Any tips for making mail armor? I'm pretty much flying by the seat of my pants.

I'm a dude and I've not only hugged a child, I've carried one from a burning building
the greatest chefs are men, hell I can cook a good meal
a warm bed isn't that hard to obtain my dog is can heat that up quick by just laying on it

men may have been sexist' but this is sexsim at its finest

If you're planning on putting that on so the V is in the front and the flat piece of the collar is in the back, your weave is hanging the wrong direction. It will hang open and not hug your chest as well.

The only hard part about mail is really armpits and chest gussets/darts if you want them. Solution: don't work in gussets/darts and leave a hole around the armpit. Pic related is pro armpit.

Yeah I was thinking it was a big rain barrel.. I wonder how well the zip ties would hold against -actual- attacks, though. Like being hit with a baseball bat or riot stick, as opposed to paintballs.

I see. Thanks for pointing that out. Also I'll probably see if I can copy that design.

They'll be fine. Imagine putting a zip tie on a sack of potatoes and hitting it with a baseball bat. The zip tie, it's... gunna be fine. If you're not worried about hits against the zipties but the whole armor, enough zipties is all I can say. I don't really know how much torque they're already providing just to hold the plastic in shape.

I fucking LOVE this guy!
I watched his youtube channel but never seen his armor plans. Thanks Anon.
